Fendi unveils ænigma in collaboration with Lewis Kemmenoe at Design Miami/ 2024

Lewis Kemmenoe, a celebrated designer and furniture artisan known for his unconventional and striking creations, embarked on an inspiring journey with Fendi to bring this collection to life. His collaboration with the Roman maison began with an immersive exploration of the Eternal City, visiting iconic landmarks such as museums, botanical gardens, and Fendi’s headquarters at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Kemmenoe also ventured to Fendi’s artisan workshops in the Tuscan countryside, gaining first-hand insights into the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship.

The ænigma collection invites audiences to delve into a world of intricate detailing and masterful artistry. Kemmenoe employed box joint techniques and organic materials, integrating brand iconic FF motif into his designs. Among the standout pieces is a patchwork pattern inspired by Fendi’s jackets, reimagined in a furniture context. Additionally, the collection features brass and aluminium castings of pinecones, an homage to the natural landscapes of Rome, adding an elevated layer of luxurious authenticity.

The curated collection comprises two chairs, a cabinet, two wall panels, three lamps, a coffee table, and a reinterpreted Peekaboo Soft Medium bag. Notably, the Peekaboo Soft Medium has been redesigned with Fendi leather stitched in a patchwork pattern, accentuated by silver and brass screws that echo the metallic finishes of the furniture pieces. This meticulous attention to detail bridges the gap between functional design and artistic expression, reflecting the harmony between brand’s legacy and Kemmenoe’s ingenuity.
