Hong Kong’s acclaimed hospitality brand unveils a new era as it unites its portfolio under a single, globally resonant brand – Upper House

This October, The House Collective is reborn as Upper House, a bold global rebrand that unifies all existing and upcoming properties under the single brand while amplifying its resonance and remaining steadfast to its “Houses not Hotels” ethos.

This move draws from the success of Upper House Hong Kong, which has ranked top five in the the World’s 50 Best Hotels for two consecutive years, and is adorned with two prestigious Michelin Keys. Its signature blend of refined design, genuine warmth and intuitive service extends to its sister properties in Chengdu and Shanghai – now renamed Upper House Chengdu and Upper House Shanghai, respectively – laying the foundation for an exciting new chapter of global growth.

At the heart of the brand’s allure lies its devotion to authenticity. No two Houses are alike; each is a bespoke reflection of its locale’s spirit. Hong Kong’s minimalist elegance pulses with the city’s dynamic energy, while Chengdu’s One Michelin Key offering (formerly The Temple House) reimagines Sichuanese heritage through a forward-looking lens, and Shanghai’s (formerly The Middle House), also a One Michelin Key, marries local cultural elements with a modern aesthetic. This philosophy permeates everything, from design to cuisine and wellness, brought to life by personalities who make guests feel truly at home.

“The rebrand heralds a new chapter for Upper House as a single, iconic brand,” says Dean Winter, managing director of Swire Hotels. “Guided by the same passion, precision, and incredible people who shaped our vision of hospitality over almost two decades, the Upper House experience remains unexpected and personal, where genuine hospitality, thoughtful design and unscripted service create something truly memorable.”

This announcement not only marks a pivotal evolution for the brand, but also introduces its next frontier: Upper House Residences, launching in Bangkok in 2030. Marking the brand’s regional debut and its first foray into residential offerings, these branded homes expand the “Houses not Hotels” mantra into permanent abodes, which are available for outright purchase, granting owners access to Upper House’s world-class hospitality.

Other openings include Upper House Shenzhen in 2027, Upper House Xi’an in 2028, and Upper House Tokyo in 2029, each weaving the brand’s intuitive elegance into new cultural tapestries.

Upper House’s expansion signals an ambition to redefine luxury beyond transient stays, inviting individuals to invest in lifestyles as personal as they are prestigious. As the portfolio grows across the region, one promise endures – experiences that rise above.
