This month, we’re #obsessed with the top collections from Aesop, Dior, Gucci, La Prairie, Byredo and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Heaven Scent

Since its launch in Melbourne in 1987, Aesop has been on a mission to formulate products of the finest quality from the best plant-based and laboratory ingredients. That includes a growing range of complex eaux de parfum that inspirit the self and senses.

The enthralling aromas, inspired by landscapes both real and imagined and designed for curious minds of all genders and personalities, include Marrakech Intense Eau de Parfum with clove, sandalwood and cardamom, Hwyl Eau de Parfum with cypress, frankincense and vetiver, and Erémia Eau de Parfum with galbanum, iris and yuzu.

If the Shoe Fits

Described as a “celebration of an arresting dialogue between Kim Jones and the legacy of Monsieur Dior”, the CD 1947 Capsule combines the new Christian Dior signature and the year of the first Dior défilé.

As an added surprise, the French luxury house teamed up with Birkenstock for the first time to reveal two reinvented iconic models – the Tokio Mule and the Milano Sandal – in a subtle tribute to the founding couturier’s passion for gardening. The functional yet elegant pieces come in chic neutral hues and are embellished with colourful flowers.

Laughing Matter

HAHAHA. Photo: Gucci

What happens when you bring together two good friends who happen to be creative powerhouses? In the case of Gucci creative director, Alessandro Michele, and British singer-songwriter and actor, Harry Styles, you get Gucci HA HA HA.

The playful new collection is designed to “act as a herald of new visions of beauty, crafted with liberating codes that eliminate the ritual complexities of fashion collections and produce the sustainable spontaneity of ease”. Think jackets, coats, pants, shirts and accessories that speak to both a new masculinity and the historical significance of menswear.

Golden Hours

The beauty of the Swiss Alps is well documented, and its radiance is well captured by the skincare scientists at La Prairie. For its latest release, the luxury brand is adding a nighttime formula to its Pure Gold collection.

Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm is designed to boost energy in devitalised skin, delivering instant radiance, an intense infusion of replenishing ingredients, and a steady release of the replenishing ingredients linked to the gold particles deposited on the skin’s surface. Used together with the Nocturnal Massage Stone, it leaves skin revitalised and replenished.

Measure of A Man

Mister Marvelous. Photo: Byredo

“A project intended to celebrate great character, resilience and creativity”, according to Byredo founder and creative director, Ben Gorham. Mister Marvelous is being reissued in a limited edition for 2022 with a campaign fronted by three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and Super Bowl LVI champion, Odell Beckham Jr.

The bold, charismatic scent – with notes of mandarin leaves, neroli, bergamot, bamboo, lavender, amber and cedar wood – pays homage to a contemporary man who is “clean cut, self-assured, exquisite and astonishing”, or as Beckham says, “a Renaissance man”.

Out of Sight

Photo: Van Cleef & Arpels

A longtime supporter of the arts, Van Cleef & Arpels has recently strengthened its commitment with its Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels initiative. The new chapter in the relationship uniting the maison and the world of dance was celebrated in Hong Kong with Carte Blanche to Christian Rizzo, presented in collaboration with the French May and Freespace.

The multifaceted programme included an installation comprising a “bodiless” dance, a moment of silent contemplation and an imaginary itinerary, all converging towards an examination of the notions of absence and invisibility.
