Christopher Bailey dedicates last show for Burberry to LGBTQ+

Christopher Bailey has presented his last collection for Burberry. Aptly named “Time,” the collection is said to “reflect on the past, celebrate the present and herald the future.” Presented alongside a multi-sensory installation in collaboration with United Visual Artists, the show was a spectacle – full of lights and sounds. On full display was “Our Time” – a piece of work on loan from the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Australia, which “investigates the subjective experience of the passing of time through movement, light and sound.” Bailey used the piece as a backdrop to the collection, with its huge pendulums swinging to the show’s soundtrack by Jimmy Somerville, The Communards and Bronski Beat.

The fashion in the collection featured all the Burberry classics such as the trench coat, aviator, cape, poncho and military coat. Making headlines was Bailey’s introduction of the Rainbow Check, the latest iteration of Burberry’s classic check pattern. It was designed by Bailey as a dedication to LGBTQ+ communities. Some pieces from the collection are now available for immediate purchase.

‘My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world. There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity,” said Christopher Bailey, about his final show. Check out snaps from the show above.
