French fashion label Roger Vivier has teamed up with celebrity stylist Camille Seydoux on a new capsule collection made entirely from denim.
The sister of actress and Bond girl Lea Seydoux has named her six-piece collection for spring/summer 2016 “Prismick,” in honor of the house’s 2012 line of the same name. Inspired by the patchwork denims of the Seventies, it comprises platform sandals, ankle boots, a shoulder bag, a bucket bag, a backpack and a sneaker.
“I wanted to work on the idea of facets that make up grades of shading,” the stylist explains. “I looked through the Maison’s archives and then I thought of denim. It’s a fabric that naturally burnishes. Denim is both classic and modern, and, a significant detail, is very resistant.”
With its towering platforms and chunky metal chain and buckle detailing, the collection harnesses the fun girl band aesthetic of the Nineties and ties into the denim accessory that is sweeping through fashion at the moment. Just last week, Rihanna revealed her own denim footwear collection for Manolo Blahnik, comprising everything from pumps to thigh-high stiletto boots.
Known for her work as a stylist, Seydoux is currently working with couture house studios to design bespoke dresses for actresses. She also stars in the collection’s video, “Magic Denim,” alongside French actresses Lubna Playoust and Lola Le Lann, which depicts the threesome playing a magical game full of possibility.
The new Prismick collection will be available from March 2016 in flagship Roger Vivier stores around the world.
