Rimowa upgrades its Essential collection with new seasonal hues and a vibrant collaboration with British artist Ptolemy Mann
Twenty-four years after Rimowa introduced its first polycarbonate suitcase – and 87 years after it revolutionised the travel industry with its aviation-inspired aluminium suitcase – the leading premium luggage brand continues to find new inspiration and translate it into cult-favourite products.
Take, for example, this winter’s eye-catching new colourways and buzzworthy collaboration with British artist Ptolemy Mann. With these new additions, Rimowa blends contemporary perspectives on colour theory with the essence of its own distinct heritage, reflecting the brand’s ongoing pursuit of innovation and exploration.
For its latest seasonal Essential collection, the German maison is showcasing its masterful play with colour in two new shades that highlight the unexpected harmony found in contrasts. Nautical, an elegant shade of deep midnight blue inspired by Scandinavian waters and the maritime spirit of the Nordics, offers a striking counterpoint to Ginger, a warm and sophisticated yellow hue, reminiscent of Copenhagen’s historical architecture and interiors.
Both Nautical and Ginger are available in a range of sizes across the Essential collection, including the Cabin, Check-in L and Trunk Plus, while Nautical is also featured in the Cabin Luggage Harness and Toiletry Pouch Trifold. Each suitcase is expertly colour-matched, from the shell to the handles and zippers, to create a monochromatic appearance.
The same attention to detail applies to key features such as the stage-less telescopic handle, multi-wheel system and TSA-approved locks. In addition to a fully zipped interior compartment and large mesh pocket for extra storage, each suitcase offers Rimowa’s Flex Divider compression system that allows travellers to pack more while keeping their belongings secure and organised during transport.
For its collaboration with Mann, Rimowa is releasing a limited-edition series of 1,000 numbered Essential Cabin cases in the Nautical colourway featuring an exclusive iteration of the artist’s Threshold series. Celebrated for her large-scale works and unique use of colour, Mann is well established within the chromatic minimalism and abstract expressionism movements. Over a career that has spanned more than 25 years, her work has evolved from hand-dyed and woven canvases to her signature Thread Paintings with expansive, gestural pieces that showcase her abstract expressionist style.
