Hong Kong foodies, rejoice! Taste Festivals is bringing the concept to the Far East for the first time, as the Central Harbourfront venue plays host to some of the city’s best restaurants for the four-day event. Taste of Hong Kong will bring together the city’s finest chefs and restaurateurs with food connoisseurs, allowing festival goers a chance to sample the chefs’ signature dishes as well as one-off creations under the city skyline.
The line-up of 12 restaurants for the Taste Festival’s debut in the city are: Café Gray Deluxe, Bibo, The Ocean, Aberdeen Street Social, Amber, Arcane, Chino, Duddell’s, Serge et Le Phoque, Tin Lung Heen, Tosca, Yardbird, and Rōnin. These local favourites, usually dotted all over the city, will come together with their executive chefs to offer four dishes each: samplers of their three signature dishes and one exclusive to the food festival, so expect to see crowd pleasers like Tin Lung Heen’s barbequed Iberian pork with honey and Tosca’s tiramisù with limoncello among them. The hometown picks will also be joined by Chef Daniel Doherty of London’s Duck & Waffle, one of the UK’s top restaurants, who will bring with him his signature dish The Duck & Waffle, available for one-day only.
Beyond the food sampling, there will also be wine and spirits to quench your thirst as well as masterclasses and workshops to entertain and educate guests. The Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar pop-up, in addition to serving guests glasses of their signature bubblies, will also be hosting masterclasses to teach guests how to pair wines with the dishes from the festival. If you rather fancy a glass of wine, the team from Australian Wynn Coonawarra Estate will be teaching guests the art of wine blending, and guests can walk away with a bottle of their own bespoke blended wine. Looking eastward, Hong Kong’s own Sunday’s Grocery will host a Sake Bar, featuring their own house sake as well as a selection from Japan’s most exciting producers. They will also be offering sake masterclasses, providing an in-depth look into the flavour profiles of the sakes on offer.
Taste of Hong Kong takes place from March 10 – 13, 2016 at the Central Harbourfront. Tickets and VIP packages are available for purchase on Ticketflap, and more information and the full schedule can be found on the festival website www.tasteofhongkong.com.
