Burberry September Collection 2016

There are many firsts for this highly-anticipated collection from Burberry. It was the fashion house’s first see-now-buy-now show, and it was also their first combined men’s and women’s show.

The starting point for the collections is Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, in the spirit of Nancy Lancaster’s interior and garden designs. Noble and authentic fabrics are thrown in the mix of denim, cashmere and pyjama silks, the collection blurring the lines between masculinity and femininity, casual and formal, night and day.

Deconstructed trench coats, regimental capes and military jackets are paired with pyjama-styled trousers and billowy ruffle-neck shirts. Details were aplenty, from tassels on boots and jackets, to fringes on dresses.

The new Bridle Bag was also revealed at the show, taking design cues from classic British equestrian designs and Burberry’s outdoor heritage.
