Lottery for Utada Hikaru's Science Fiction concerts in Hong Kong opens

Apr 22, 2024

Japanese megastar Utada Hikaru is set to drop by Hong Kong for her Science Fiction Tour. Mega fan David Ho checks out the details

UPDATE: The results for the lottery have been announced. Check the list here. If you didn’t make it, don’t worry. General sales open on May 8.

J-pop star Utada Hikaru is hitting up Hong Kong shores on August 17 and 18 with her Science Fiction Tour. Her first tour in six years is in support of her latest greatest hits compilation Science Fiction, which is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their career.

The compilation album features three new tracks – “Gold (Mata au Hi Made)”, “Naniiro Demo Nai Hana”, and “Electricity” – which we can probably expect to see performed live on the tour. It also contains new mixes and re-recordings of their previous hits.

At the age of 15, Utada made waves with their Japanese debut album First Love in 1999. It became the best selling Japanese album of all time. Since then, Utada has released an additional seven Japanese albums and three English albums.

Held at Asia World Expo, the tickets will range from $680 to $1,580. Given the demand, a lottery for the priority ticket ballot will run from noon on April 22 to 6pm on April 23. “Time Will Tell” if you are among the chosen who will have access to priority sales beginning on April 29. General sales will then start on May 8.

If that doesn’t work out, don’t worry. Utada will also be hitting up Taipei Arena on August 10 and 11 for a couple of concert dates in Taiwan. So try out for that too.

Good luck!
