For this year’s #legend100hk, we turn the spotlight on those in the art and design sphere. Why? Look at Labubu – the quirky snaggle-toothed monster created by Hong Kong– born artist Kasing Lung. It’s evolved far beyond its origins as a collectible toy and become a cultural phenomenon. But more than just a toy craze, the global chord that it has struck reflects not only something deeper about modern consumer behaviour but also the potential of our city’s talent. Because that’s what we need – people and content creators who can broaden our horizons and make us more aware and conscious of what’s happening beyond the doldrums of the everyday.
