We’ve asked our community for the hottest events they’ve marked down in their diaries this month.
Be it art, food or entertainment, our plugged-in friends know what’s most happening

Charles Lam @char1es

“Due to the Covid situation, I’ve spent more ‘me time’ getting into TV shows and films. And Just Like That… is
my recent favourite and I’m hoping for another season. For March, I’m interested in Light the Night, part three,
and the 2022 Oscars nominees have also caught my eye. I will definitely watch all the films – The Eyes of Tammy Faye with Jessica Chastain looks especially impressive. I’m also exploring using film cameras and there are few collaborations coming out, which will be pretty exciting. I’m hoping to not be limited to only social media, but also try different platforms and directions, which I hope will make an impact.”

“My friend Queenie will be opening her gallery Double Q at the end of March. I can’t wait to see what shows she has in store and how she will curate the space (which will be pet-friendly as well)! I’ll also be releasing my spring/summer 2022 shoe design with Ilio Smeraldo this month. We’re keeping the pointy shape from the autumn/winter 2021 boot, but turning it into a strappy sandal that will work with summer tailoring, jeans or dresses.”

“Daap, a new creative fusion restaurant in Central, appreciates and takes advantage of seasonal local produce
and incorporates different cooking methods from around the world. Its latest creations are Gai Bao Zai, steamed
buns with slow-cooked Hainanese chicken, aioli, ginger and scallion pesto, and Toast of the Ocean, which looks like a cha chaan teng-style French toast yet it’s cooked with uni, salmon roe, dried shredded squid and chestnuts.”

“This year’s Fashion Weeks will return with a broader adoption of live-streaming, making fashion news accessible
for all. Despite this trend, nothing can replace a good ol’ Fashion Week, jam-packed with a massive line-up of
physical runway shows that light up a city. Paris Fashion Week is the one that I look forward to the most. This
season will mark the first Off-White show since Virgil Abloh passed away last November. Balenciaga’s return to the more traditional runway show format is another highlight.”

“From late February to March 26, I’m taking in the Hong Kong Arts Festival. The line-up, which features a
number of virtual performances, including the Bavarian State Opera, Shanghai Opera House, Paris Opera Ballet,
International Theater Amsterdam and many more.”

“In general, I’m just waiting for the day when gyms and restaurants are open again so I can work, work out and see
my friends for dinner and drinks. For gyms, I recommend H-Kore; Foxglove for dinner and dancing; Pak Loh Chiu
Chow Restaurant for family dinners; and Grand Majestic Sichuan because it just opened – I’ve never been to dinner
but it just looks fabulous! The décor is stunning and the cocktails look so good!”
