Lamborghini Hong Kong launches the “Lamborghini 852 Art Car Parade” charity exhibition in its Wan Chai’s Star Street showroom.

On December 1st, Lamborghini Hong Kong opened its showroom in Star Street, Wan Chai, with the launch of its Lamborghini Hong Kong Art Car charity exhibition where local mural artist Alex Croft was invited to create a painting art in the form of murals and art cars to commemorate the sportscar maker’s 60th anniversary. Croft is the same creator of the iconic giant mural on Hollywood Road.

Local artist Alex Croft creates mural reflecting Lamborghini’s aesthetic for the carmaker’s 60th anniversary.

Croft has collaborated with 59 local artists, celebrities, designers and other remarkable individuals to create and decorate 60 miniature Lamborghini Revuelto model cars of a 1:18 scale (printed using 3D technology) to be exhibited and sold for charity.

Notable participants include actor Bowie Lam, musician Tyson Yoshi, cartoonists Li Chi-tak, Man Tsang, artist Aka C, and designer and B.Duck founder Eddie Hui, among others.

Lamborghini is best known for its signature hexagon and the Y stylistic elements that are so distinctive to the carmaker’s research and aesthetic language. Croft created a mural centrepiece for this event which is inspired by the city’s architectural style and nostalgic charm of old Hong Kong.

“The design is inspired by the common tile patterns found on buildings, which are repeated in geometric ways; depth is created with a variety of colours to depict the vibrancy of a city under the blue sky,” says Croft of the design concept. “The colour palette is also inspired by colours commonly seen in Lamborghini sports cars, while the brand’s iconic Y and hexagons are also added.”

This was the first time that the artist used stencil art to create murals which raised the precision of his patterns. “I think this really reflects me and the brand’s mutual desire for continuous innovation.”

Croft’s design extends to the Lamborghini Urus Performante, the first super SUV in the car industry and another highlight of the exhibition.

The 60 1:18 art cars are put on public display at the Lamborghini Hong Kong showroom in Star Street from December 2 to 10. The price of each art car starts at HK$3,000. All proceedings will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
