David Ho looks at Jaguar's new Type 00 concept vehicles
At Miami Art Week, the British luxury car manufacturer unveiled the Type 00 (pronounced Type Zero Zero) concept that is part of its all-electric rebrand. This comes hot on the heels of its new simplified logo, which was made public last month.
Presented in two colours - London Blue and Miami Pink - the concept vehicles boast a futuristically angular design with "a long bonnet, sweeping roofline, fastback profile and 23‑inch alloy wheels for a dramatic silhouette" as described by Jaguar and intended to fit its creative philosophy of Exuberant Modernism.
"The magic of Jaguar is close to my heart – an original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry and emotional magnetism," says Adrian Mardell, the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover. "That’s the Jaguar we are recapturing and we will create the same sense of awe that surrounded iconic models like the E‑type. Our journey is already underway, guided by our original ethos to Copy Nothing – and the results will be spectacular.”
It should be noted though that the Type 00 is an artistic concept and will not enter production. Jaguar’s first production under its new identity will be a four-door electric grand tourer that is to be built in the UK. It will be revealed in late 2025 and it is unclear how closely it will resemble the Type 00 concept.
