Gucci opens its first ever high jewellery boutique in Paris
Jul 18, 2019
Gucci lovers, rejoice! Earlier this month, the Italian label opened a boutique exclusively dedicated to high jewellery in Paris’ legendary square, Place Vendôme. So major! The collection, dubbed Hortus Deliciarum (in Latin it translates to Garden of Delights), was designed by the house’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele. Loyal customers and fans of the brand will be thrilled to know that every single piece in the new high jewellery line – there are more than 200 of them – reflects Michele’s eclectic and more is more aesthetic.
Various motifs and colour combinations that have become part of the brand’s DNA, since the designer came on board in 2015, also feature heavily. Expect to see Gucci’s signature snakes, bees, lion heads, heart shapes, arrows and other house codes encrusted with sparkling diamonds and all sorts of beautiful gems. The collection is made up of three themes: Eternal Love, the Animal Kingdom and Solitaires.
The fashion set and those who already deck themselves out in Gucci’s costume jewellery will undoubtedly love the new bling as most of the whimsical designs are, in fact, one-of-a-kind. The selection of ultra-luxe earrings, necklaces, bracelets, tiaras and rings have been set with uniquely-coloured gems – and it’s been said that Michele has been quite involved in the process of selecting them. Gemstones range from honey-hued imperial topaz to velvet green tourmaline and pink and blue sapphires. Believe us when we say that the pieces are unlike any other haute joaillerie collections you’ve come across previously. Favourites include a Lion Head necklace in yellow gold featuring an array of diamonds and gemstones such as garnets, fire opals and amethysts and a pair of Heart and Arrow earrings in white gold featuring rubellites and pink sapphires.
Another reason why you should shell out the big bucks and invest in Gucci’s sophisticated jewels? It’ll complement whatever you’re wearing, whether its jeans and a T-shirt during the day or a floor-length frock at night…and it’ll make you feel that much #extra. What’s not to love?
