Bouchra Jarrar is leaving Lanvin after a brief 16 months and two seasons, WWD reports

The designer was appointed as creative director following Alber Elbaz’s startling departure in October 2015, following a 14-year tenure at the Parisian maison. Jared had the tumultuous task of restoring order within the house following Elbaz’s abrupt departure, which sounded off an internal protest, with its 330 employees demanding his return from majority shareholder and Taiwanese media mogul, Shaw-Lan Wang.

In taking on the role of creative director at Lanvin, Jarrar  shut down her eponymous label to give full dedication to the house. She made her debut at Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2017 show, and while it garnered positive response, Jarrar was unable to revive the label and salvage its eroding revenues, which ultimately resulted in the mutual decision to part ways by Lanvin and Jarrar.

Though her time at Lanvin was short-lived, Jarrar continues to serve as a key player in the fashion circuit and we look forward to seeing what she does next. Just last week, the city of Paris had promoted Jarrar to an Officer of the Orders of Arts and Letters, a high civilian honor that is bestowed on those who have significantly contributed to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance through creative fields.
