The Harry Potter Film Concert Series has landed in Macau for a limited period of time to bring the iconic soundtrack of the first four movies played by Orchestra Italiana del Cinema at the MGM Cotai’s MGM Theatre.
If you grew up in the 2000s, there’s a high chance that you’re a massive Harry Potter fan and have the popular motives engraved in your memory. In fact, in the seven movies, the original score played a major role in adapting J.K. Rowling mesmerising universe to the screen and making the fantasy saga one of the most beloved film series in history.
As the world’s first residency of the series, the Italian Orchestra will perform more than 18 concerts featuring live performances of every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Audiences have the unique opportunity to experience the unforgettable scores played by an orchestra while reliving the magic of each film in high-definition on the world’s largest indoor LED screen.
"The Harry Potter film series is a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. It is with great pleasure that we bring fans for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen. This is truly an unforgettable event,” Justin Freer, President of CineConcerts and Producer/Conductor of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series explained.
Since its premiere in 2016, more than 1.3 million fans have enjoyed the immersive experience. The series, which was launched as a global concert to celebrate the Harry Potter movies and their impact by CineConcerts and Warner Bros, is set to bring the show to more than 48 countries throughout 2019.
The Orchestra Italiana del Cinema is the first Italian symphonic ensemble that promotes the heritage of original soundtracks and performs cinematic scores. The group, who first debuted in China in 2010, has been bringing memorable multimedia concerts that have delighted movie lovers all over the world.
“Harry Potter is synonymous with excitement around the world and we hope that by performing this incredible music with the full movie, audiences will enjoy returning to the Wizarding World,” added Brady Beaubien of CineConcerts and Producer for the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.
If you are an aficionado of Rowling’s wizardry world – or just passionate about movies’ scores and superb live music in general – we can assure you that there is nothing more exciting than re-experiencing the memorable moments that defined the epic story, like Harry’s first Quidditch game or his confrontation with a dragon during the Triwizard Tournament, while listening to a symphonic orchestra.
