Jace Chan and Kaho Hung are both pop stars standing on business. The two tell David Ho about their upcoming concerts and the joys of performing live
Kaho Hung has quite a birthday party planned. As he celebrates his special day on October 26, the singer-songwriter plans to usher it in onstage.

“On October 25th, I’m having a birthday party combined with a concert—like a fan meeting. Although I usually want to organize a fan meeting every year, this one is hosted by an organizer, not a fan club,” he tells #legend. Hung sees this as a way to give back to his fans who have supported me. “Beyond just meeting them, I want to show appreciation through events like this, so they know their support means a lot to me. I really enjoy connecting with my fans this way.”

While some may object to working on their special day, Hung doesn’t mind. In fact, he rather relishes the opportunity to connect with others. “What I love about performing live is the unique, special feeling that doesn’t happen in the studio or casual singing at home. When I sing live at a concert, I really connect with the lyrics, and there’s a vivid scene right in front of me,” he says. “It’s strange, but it’s only during live performances that my emotions become very strong, making me laugh, cry, or feel deeply moved. That’s the magic of live shows.”
While that does sound magical, it is still work nonetheless. Hung has been deep in rehearsals for the concert, even as he joins us for this #legend cover shoot.

“To handle work pressure, especially organizing my own concert, which is always a big challenge, I rely on two main things: constant practice until I know everything perfectly and reminding myself that what I want to achieve is not too difficult and that doing my best is enough,” he says. “Ultimately, mindset is the key, no matter how old you are.”
Mindset is definitely key as no matter how well rehearsed one is, performing live can bring with it with many surprises and curveballs, even for seasoned professionals. “My philosophy for when things don’t go as planned is like the Marvel timeline idea: if I wanted option A but can only choose B, I believe choosing B leads to new opportunities. Every second presents a choice that shapes what happens next,” says Hung. “Even if things don’t turn out as expected, that’s okay because something else will come. And sometimes gaining what you expect means losing something else.”

Another pop star that will soon be entering her own whirlwind of rehearsals soon is #legend’s perennial favourite pop girlie Jace Chan. While things are still in the early stages as we speak, she will soon be prepping for an upcoming concert series in early 2026.
“I actually don’t feel very nervous so far, but I know I might get nervous closer to the concert,” says Chan. But to prepare, she has been adjusting her lifestyle to slow down and relax more. Chan is putting her focus a lot on physical relaxation, like swimming, stretching, and Pilates. “I realize that relaxing both body and mind is very important. When my body is relaxed, my mood naturally follows,” she says.

Besides putting herself in the right frame of mind to take on the very physical task of performing, Chan has been busy planning the concerts with her team. We prod her on tells us about what to expect at
“A Jace Chan show is all about defining what “Jace World” means, which can be a bit challenging sometimes. In my world and this show, I want to present very different and extreme perspectives, all packed into a small, concentrated world on stage. I hope everyone who joins this journey will realize that anything is possible, gain strength, and feel inspired to bravely keep chasing their dreams in their own bigger worlds. That’s the feeling I want to give everyone,” she says.
“I love live performances because they offer an authentic, unreplaceable connection. The sound, visuals, and atmosphere are experienced in real time through our senses, and emotions can’t be fully translated or captured by AI. It’s a mutual exchange of energy—me performing and the audience fully focused and joyful. This genuine interaction and shared energy make live performances the most special and fulfilling experience.”

Hung and Chan have good reason to look forward to their shows, as both stars have released new music and are looking forward to seeing how that translates to a live setting.
Hung recently came out with the song “Till We Meet Again”. He tells us the track was written and composed by himself and inspired by a DJ’s wish to reunite with his wife in heaven, is about love beyond this life. “It reflects on the warmth of enduring love, especially amid uncertainties and losses. It conveys that even if love feels incomplete now, it continues and grows in the next life, offering hope and comfort beyond present challenges,” he says.
Fans can expect more to come from Hung. “I’ve just finished all my upcoming new music. The album has six songs in total, with two still unreleased. I composed them myself. These new songs reveal sides of me that people rarely see and feature two musical styles that I really love. I hope everyone will enjoy them when they come out,” he says.
Hung has been in the zone of late, with many things inspiring him creatively. “Recently, I’ve found that I’m easily inspired by words, dialogues, or lyrics that spark entire stories or creative ideas. For example, the idea of hoping to reunite with my wife in heaven inspired my new song,” he says. Another song, “I Understand” came from a movie line about supporting someone who feels tired. I realize these meaningful inputs often trigger my creativity and shape my work.”

Chan is also as inspired with a steady string of releases this year leading up to her third independent album Revolving. The album is divided into two releases. The first is the 8-track Revolving: Up, which was released in August 2025. Coming in December is an additional three tracks that will be known as Revolving: Down.
As the sub-titles suggest, the separate releases are divided into up- and down-tempo sections of the Revolving album. Chan shows off her versatile taste with a range of sounds across both parts, from the Charli XCX-esque club kid vibes of “Big Cars” to the bouncy pop of “Switch” and her latest ballad “PTSD”.
Interestingly, Chan chose to draw inspiration from a mythical character for the album. “As for Revolving: Up, it represents the kind of music I usually enjoy and draws inspiration from Qing She, the green snake character in the legend of the White Snake,” she tells us. “I imagined if Qing She lived in modern Hong Kong, pretending to be human—what kind of music would she make, and what would her lifestyle be like? That idea inspired me to create this album.”
Chan’s creative process changes with each project. “For Revolving: Up, I start with the music style and rhythm, then decide the lyrics. For Revolving: Down, I focus on inner emotions and feelings that need release,” she explains. “Having different creative paths helps me explore diverse sounds. To stay creative, I avoid rigid rules, follow the flow, try new ideas, and allow space for endless possibilities. This open approach keeps my work fresh.”
Even with exciting performances to look forward to, both artists are in a reflective mood now with 2025 drawing to a close soon.

For Hung, one of the best moments for him this year was participating as a Hong Kong artist in an event for a Japanese fashion brand. “Growing up admiring icons like Shawn Yue and Edison Chen who worked with Japanese designers, I longed for such opportunities in Hong Kong. This experience feels like a meaningful fresh start, making me truly proud and grateful to bridge that gap and collaborate across cultures,” he says.
Looking forward, Hung’s has goals that are both in the personal and professional realm. “Personally, I hope to live a carefree life, feeling happy and worry-free every day. Although earning money is important and possible, I realize that for me, living a joyful and peaceful life is even more meaningful and remains a goal I have yet to fully accomplish,” he says.
“After releasing this year’s album, I will return with music that I believe is great and that everyone will enjoy. There will also be ongoing concerts, and I am looking forward to achieving even better results next year, surpassing the success of the song “Tinted Windows”.”
For Chan, the release of the Revolving album was the highlight of 2025 as it gave her creative satisfaction. “One of my best moments in 2025 was releasing Revolving: Up. I spent the first half of the year focused on work without overthinking. When the songs finally came out, I felt very satisfied and ready to celebrate,” she says.

But there were also other things this year that moved Chan besides her creative output. One of it was going to Bangladesh with the charity Plan, which she described as an “eye-opening experience”. “Visiting refugee camps and slums, especially seeing the children and girls who need help, made me reflect deeply on what I can do better and how I can truly make a difference. I felt very grateful for the clean facilities and good education I have, realizing many basic things we take for granted. It also showed me that there are ways to help people in need around the world,” she says.
For 2026, Chan is focused on getting through her concerts first. “For next year, I don’t have a concrete plan yet after the Hong Kong Coliseum shows, but I have many hopes and things I want to try. Simply put, I wish to have a healthier mind and body to do more fun and interesting things,” she explains.
Chan understands the music business is a marathon, not a sprint. So, she’s all about finding sustainable longevity as an artist and giving herself time to recharge creatively. “It’s not about producing immediately but giving myself a long period to adjust and find a new state.,” she says. “I hope to grow in music, business, and self-care, as well as supporting my team and loved ones. I’m very excited for 2026.”
