On 23 March, the legendary K-pop group BTS made their long-awaited comeback with their new album Arirang at Gwanghwamun in Seoul. Army went absolutely wild – not just for the music, but also for the stunning stage outfits. Who designed them? Below, a breakdown of what made the looks so special

The Concept

The entire set was designed by Korean designer Jay Songzio. Deeply rooted in Korean heritage, the stage outfits and performance fused traditional elements with modern pop, blending the sounds of traditional instruments with contemporary beats, powerful choreography and rich historical inspiration.

Songzio’s collaborative collection with BTS is titled “Lyrical Armor”. The concept embodies a new generation of heroes who carry Korea’s turbulent history deep within their bodies and souls, while boldly forging the future. Drawing inspiration from historical figures, valiant warriors, dignified scholars, insightful statesmen and visionary artists, the collection reimagines BTS as modern pioneers opening a new chapter in Korea’s enduring story.

The Outfits

The entire collection was built around a striking monochrome palette, masterfully playing with contrasting textures such as wool and leather. Songzio reinterpreted classic pieces through thoughtful layering – jorts, pleated skirts, blazers and more – each given unexpected twists in material and form, highlighting the infinite possibilities of black and white.

The styling masterfully blended elegance with raw street-punk energy. Jimin wore a tweed jacket over a leather pleated midi skirt layered with trousers underneath. V paired a sleek blazer with oversized street-style jorts and trousers. Jungkook embraced a maximalist vibe in a heavily layered punk-inspired leather jacket, balanced by tailored trousers that added a touch of sophistication. Overall, the looks remained low-key yet radiated fierce, commanding energy.

Army, are you ready for this visual feast from BTS?
