The Oscars officially close award season and, as the most anticipated ceremony, the entire world has its eyes on the red carpet to see what our favourite celebrities are going to wear. Let it be a custom-made one or Haute Couture, some stars rocked this year’s red carpet with outfits to remember for years to come. Here are our top picks.
Lady Gaga
When it comes to walking the red carpet with style, the A Star is Born actress never fails to impress. This time, she wore a black Alexander McQueen dress and a Tiffany & Co. Diamond necklace. Gaga, who won best original song for “Shallow” and was nominated for best actress, surely reminded us of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Billy Porter
Talking about breaking stereotypes on the red carpet, Billy Porter is definitely first on everyone’s list this year. Instead of the usual tuxedo or tailored suit, Porter became the talk of the internet with his custom-made Christian Siriano tuxedo-gown. This one’s really one to remember!
Black Panther
The cast of Black Panther has definitely been killing it on the red carpet this award season, and the Oscars were no exception. Danai Gurira wore a strapless golden dress from Brock Collection and accessorised it with Fred Leighton jewellery. Her co-star Letitia Wright wore a stunning Dior Haute Couture dress. Both Winston Duke and Michael.B.Jordan wore classic – and yet stylish – tuxedos.
Oh, and let’s not forget about Black Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman, who wore one of the most talked-about outfits of the night: a bold, dazzling tuxedo/gown with metallic details. Black Panther won for the best costume design, best production design and best original score.
Crazy Rich Asians
Constance Wu looked beautiful in a yellow custom Versace gown and Atelier Swarovski jewellery.
Henry Golding wore a suit by Ralph Lauren.
Gemma Chan looked stunning in a layered pink dress by Valentino Couture and Bulgari jewellery.
Michelle Yeoh was as elegant and bright as ever in her Elle Saab dress and Chopard jewellery.
Last but not least, Awkwafina looked amazing in a glittery Dsquared2 statement-suit paired with Chopard jewellery.
Marie Kondo
The Tidying up with Marie Kondo star has started 2019 being an internet sensation. Since her Netflix show came out, she has been the subject of countless memes and tweets. Now, people will also start talking about her look at the Oscars. Kondo wore a beautiful pink dress designed by Jenny Packham that she described as “cute.” Well, she definitely “sparked joy!”
