Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 culminated today with an awards ceremony hosted at Hong Kong’s Kerry Hotel that unveiled this year’s full ranking, highlighting the remarkable evolution of Asian gastronomy and the chefs pushing its boundaries forward
Voted by the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list features restaurants from 17 cities across the region, with three cities making their debut in the top 50, alongside eight new restaurant entries and four re-entries. Bangkok leads with nine restaurants, followed by Tokyo with seven, while Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore each have six establishments.
Several standout special awards highlighted this year’s results: Beijing’s Lamdre made a dramatic 33-place ascent to No.17, claiming Highest Climber honours. Bangkok’s Baan Tepa earned recognition for sustainability. Meanwhile, Hangzhou’s Ru Yuan debuted impressively at No.25, winning Highest New Entry.
Individual excellence was also celebrated. Bangkok stood out with two notable wins: Dej Kewkacha received the Best Pastry Chef Award, while Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn was honoured with the Chefs’ Choice Award. Hong Kong-born vegetarian chef Peggy Chan was named the inaugural recipient of the Champions of Change Award, which honours individuals making a meaningful impact in the hospitality industry. Singapore’s Lesley Liu took home the Best Sommelier Award, Korea’s Cho Eun-hee was named Best Female Chef, and China’s Zhang Yong received the prestigious Icon Award.
Hong Kong’s Wing secured the No.2 position, but the biggest headlines belonged to The Chairman. The iconic Hong Kong Cantonese restaurant, founded by Danny Yip, claimed the top spot as Asia’s Best Restaurant 2026, marking the second time it has earned the prestigious accolade, after its historic triumph in 2021 when it defied expectations to become the first Chinese restaurant to top the list.
