The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are one of pop culture’s most iconic events. David Ho looks at who won for the 2025 edition
At this year’s VMA’s, Ariana Grande took the top honour of Video of the Year for the sci-fi long-form music video “Brighter Days Ahead”.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga picked up the coveted Artist of the Year award, bringing her moonman trophy total to 21. But there wasn’t much time for celebration as she rushed off to her Madison Square Garden concert right after collecting the award.
Mariah Carey was honoured with the Video Vanguard Award, in addition to winning her very first VMA earlier in the evening for Best R&B video with “Type Dangerous”. She performed a medley of her songs to mixed reactions on the internet.
For K-pop acts, Blackpink dominated. Blackpink was crowned Best Group, while members Rosé and Lisa picked up individual awards for their solo efforts.
