New exhibition invites visitors to explore the history of Notre-Dame de Paris through immersive technology

Visionairs, a French cultural organisation, will unveil its inaugural exhibition, Notre-Dame de Paris, The Augmented Exhibition, on  December 8, 2024, at West Kowloon Cultural District. This event coincides with the official reopening of Notre-Dame following its restoration.

The exhibition uses augmented reality (AR) to engage visitors with the cathedral’s 850-year history. Attendees will access a HistoPad, a portable tablet, to explore key moments in Notre-Dame’s past. The device offers insights into significant events, such as King Henri IV’s wedding and Napoleon Bonaparte’s coronation.

Visitors will encounter interactive elements, including a selfie studio and a virtual treasure hunt. They can also view artefacts like a replica of a chimera statue and a projection of one of the cathedral’s rose windows.

The exhibition runs until March 7, 2025, and aims to attract locals and tourists. Early bird tickets are available for HK$248. Visionairs hopes this project will enhance public appreciation for heritage and culture through innovative technology.
