15 new spring afternoon teas in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, you’re surely never more than a few metres away from a great afternoon tea or two. If you’re looking for some delicious teatime temptation, here are 15 of the newest afternoon teas to try in Hong Kong this spring – time to get those pinkies out.

It’s goodbye Café Gray Deluxe, hello Salisterra. While those majestic harbourside views are still very much intact, The Upper House’s flagship restaurant has received a seriously stylish makeover, with a breezy redesigned interior, revamped Mediterranean menu – and of course, a brand spanking new afternoon tea. Current savouries and sweets to savour include Brillat-Savarin passionfruit cheesecakes, mushroom and celeriac pithiviers, and lemon meringue chouquettes – plus freshly-baked scones with clotted cream and homemade preserves, of course.

Take a culinary trip to Japan with Four Seasons’ latest ultra-chic collaboration – their Tatcha Afternoon Tea. Inspired by the superfood ingredients like green tea and red algae that the luxe beauty brand showcases in their products, this exquisite tea set features items like Okinawa sea salt caramel chocolate crème with biscuit, uji green tea and azuki bean cake, and soft akita rice with sakura jelly. Each afternoon tea for two also includes a Tatcha Dewy Skin Discovery Kit, to ensure your complexion gets the pampering treatment too.

For a Cantonese twist on afternoon tea, head to Cordis’ Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant Ming Court to sample their new Signature Afternoon Tea Delights menu. This elegant set features a comforting chicken consommé with matsutake mushroom and bamboo pith served in a dainty glass teapot, alongside a delicious quartet of appetisers – including the restaurant’s much-loved char siu. A vegetarian version, featuring a matsutake consommé and other plant-based alternatives like crispy noodles with OmniPork, is also available. Still hungry? Guests can enjoy a 25% discount on Ming Court’s regular dim sum and a la carte menus during the afternoon tea period.

Le Salon de Thé de Joël Robuchon

Get ready for a truly scent-sational afternoon tea in this unique collaboration between niche perfume boutique Parfumerie Trésor and Le Salon de Thé de Joël Robuchon. Only available at the restaurant’s Landmark location, this quirky tea set promises to take you on a truly sensory journey; alongside the usual array of savouries and scones, each set features six exclusive dessert creations inspired by six of Parfumerie Trésor’s most stunning scents – such as lychee jelly with raspberry ganache for Ormonde Jayne’s Byzance, and coconut mousse with Malibu Chantilly for Nishane’s Fan Your Flames.

All six scents will be available for you to spritz and discover the inspiration behind these perfect pairings. Meanwhile, guests can also choose their favourite to receive a sample of the fragrance to take home, and go make their own hand sanitiser with the same scent at Parfumerie Trésor’s nearby Landmark store.

Continuing the fabulously fragrant theme, contemporary Australian restaurant Hue has partnered with divinely-scented pampering line Aromatherapy Associates for their latest tea set. Treats on offer include an assortment of creatively-flavoured scones, such as ginger-spiced pumpkin, rosemary raisin, and classic with a lavender whipped cream filling, alongside items inspired by the brand’s signature fragrance blends – like mini oregano chicken quiches with juniper berry, and ginger and pineapple friands. Guests can continue the all-indulgent experience with a complimentary set of Aromatherapy Associates bath and shower oils to take home too.

Treat yourself to a taste of la dolce vita with The Ritz-Carlton’s “Art of Italian” afternoon tea. A high-fashion collab with Milanese fine jewellers Pomellato, this sophisticated set pays homage to both the brand’s Italian roots and masterful craftsmanship – with highlights including smoked salmon cannoli with lemon curd and mascarpone mousse, Napoleon blood orange tiramisu, and raspberry balsamic compote panna cotta, all served on a playful gold swing-shaped tea stand. Guests will also receive an invitation for an exclusive Italian jewellery experience, to be booked at Pomellato’s Elements boutique before the end of May.

Soil To Soul

Go green for your afternoon tea with modern Korean restaurant Soil To Soul’s “Beyond Vegan – Spring” set. A collaboration with local vegan skincare brand Skin Need, this sustainably-minded teatime spread showcases seasonal plant-based ingredients, with bite-sized dishes like rice paper rolls with fresh veggies, Korean mochi and walnut tarts, all inspired by Korean temple food. The set also includes a choice of Korean herbal teas or fresh fruity mocktails, with guests receiving a complimentary Skin Need hand cream and discount voucher too.

Spring has most definitely sprung at Conrad Hong Kong, with the arrival of their blooming beautiful “Spring Garden” afternoon tea. The set features an array of strawberry-infused teatime treats, such as strawberry tartlets with Amalfi lemon curd, strawberry and champagne baba, homemade scones served with strawberry-rhubarb jam – and even speciality strawberry tipples too. If you fancy savouring the tea set in the comfort of your own home, the takeaway version also includes an utterly adorable Easter-edition Conrad teddy bear (complete with cute bunny ears), with part of the proceeds from each takeaway purchase going towards the charity, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong.

It’s all coming up roses for Maison Es’ new “French Organic Rose Garden” afternoon tea collab with natural beauty brand Melvita. This pretty-in-pink set features a range of Parisienne pastries and delicate savouries inspired by Melvita’s signature Organic Damask Rose Flower Water – with highlights including lychee rose macarons, crab croquettes with uni cranberry sauce, and rose petal scones served with rose tea jam and vanilla butter. Easter might be over, but the springtime fun continues with this super-cute tea set, which features sweet surprises like a Lindt chocolate egg to crack open, rabbit-shaped coconut milk puddings, mini flower mille-feuilles, and unlimited dark chocolate soft-serve ice-cream – alongside gourmet savoury items such as chestnut chocolate bruschetta with bacon, and spiced chicken-chocolate ragout vol-au-vents.
