Victoria Secret takes over Shanghai

What: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

When: November 18, 2017

Where: Mercedes-Benz Arena, Shanghai

In a huge push into the Chinese retail market, Victoria’s Secret announced earlier this year that it would be hosting its annual fashion show in Shanghai. The highly-anticipated event happened last night to much glitz and glamour, and marked the first time the Angels descended upon Asia. Normally hosted in New York City, and in recent years, London and Paris, Victoria’s Secret is slowly but surely extending its reach worldwide. Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Taylor Hill and Alessandra Ambrosia who announced that the event was her last time walking the catwalk for the brand. The show also featured a record number of Chinese models, including local heroes such as Liu Wen, Xiao Wen Ju and Sui He, alongside newer names such as Estelle Chen. As per usual, the show featured a slew of the hottest pop stars, from Harry Styles, Miguel, Jane Chang and more. The stage played host to six different collections, including “Nomadic Adventure” and “Winter’s Tale.” These amped-up lingerie sets were colourful and bold, but nothing challenged the US$2 million Fantasy Bra worn by Lais Ribeiro. There were a rumoured 3,500 guests in attendance for the invite-only event, which lasted roughly 45 minutes. Despite one hard tumble on the runway by Chinese model Ming Xi, the show was largely scuff-free.

Check out the entire show during its official TV broadcast on November 28, 2017.
