Richard Mille: Watches for women

Richard Mille unites cutting-edge materials and world-class craftsmanship in its RM 07-01 and RM 037 series for women

As one of the world’s most innovative watchmaking brands, Richard Mille is constantly seeking new challenges and new materials. Case in point is Gold Carbon TPT ‒ an exclusive combination of gold, a chemically noble substance, and Carbon TPT, which is remarkable for its qualities of strength and lightness. The realisation of this hybrid material is not only a technical and technological tour de force but also a testament to the brand’s determination to make innovation a core tenet of its development.

The result of Carbon TPT layers compiled at a 45° angle and alternating with sheets of gold, Gold Carbon TPT demands extensive know-how and absolute precision when it comes to designing milling programmes and seeking out suitable cutting tools. It also reveals the full technical performance and finesse Richard Mille offers throughout its collections, thanks to the unique play of light and gorgeous shades of gold.

The material was therefore an apt choice for two models conceived and designed for women: the RM 07-01 and the RM 037, each with a dial set with black sapphires and centres that are Onyx. Veritable jewel boxes, the Gold Carbon TPT cases constitute a leap forward in terms of inalterability and ensure optimal protection for these in-house calibres. Their striking damascene patterns also make each timepiece unique, just like the woman who wears Richard Mille on her wrist.

The RM 07-01 features a sleek tonneau-shaped case housing the CRMA2 calibre, a skeletonised automatic movement providing an elegant contrast between delicacy and strength characteristic of the demanding rigour each and every model is subject to. For its part, the RM 037 is visible to the eye with every detail of its own skeletonised automatic movement, the CRMA1, enhanced by contrasting satin-brushed, bevelled, micro-blasted and black polished surfaces.

In another interpretation of the CRMA2 calibre, the RM 07-01 Intergalactic collection offers an equally striking display of technicality and craftsmanship. Here, diamonds and Carbon TPT enrich each other and highlight their respective properties, achieving true symbiosis between darkness and light. Unlike gold, which allows the craftsman to shape the prongs to secure the diamonds, the hardness of Carbon TPT means the gem setter is compelled to use diamond-bit milling tools in order to machine the settings. Besides guaranteeing optimal protection for the movement, Carbon TPT also creates a striking look that is specific to each watch.

Not only has Richard Mille made composites one of the new standards in luxury but it has also established a reputation for bringing together technology and prestige in models of exceptional workmanship. It has likewise proven that mastering the many challenges of using ultra-technical materials is an art as well as a science.
