From a night’s stay in New York’s most famous rent-controlled apartment to whimsical moments in the Hundred Acre Woods, here are some of the most exceptional Airbnb experiences ever offered
As travel hasn’t bounced back globally like we naively imagined before, it looks like the staycation trend is here to erm, stay. Homestay platform Airbnb is aware of this and has been creating some whimsical experiences around the world. We look at their latest offering and some of the most unique and memorable experiences ever offered.
Sex and the City
Even without Mr Big, you might be able to live out your best Carrie Bradshaw fantasy in her apartment. Those in New York will be able to book an Airbnb stay at the Sex and the City style icon’s Upper East Side apartment and have access to her closet.
There will be two one-night stays for up to two guests each at a recreation of Carrie’s brownstone for only US$23 (that’s just HK$180) a night. The price is a nod to the 23 years since Carrie and co arrived on our screens and in celebration of And Just Like That…, the show’s latest iteration.
At check-in, guests will get a virtual greeting from actress Sarah Jessica Parker herself and narration similar to the intro on the show. To make the stay even more fabulous, guests will also receive Cosmopolitans and the chance to dress up in some of Carrie’s best looks, complete with a photoshoot to boot.
“The Carrie Bradshaw character is near and dear to my heart, and revisiting her world for the continuation of the Sex and the City story has been such a joy,” said Parker. “I’m excited for our audience to experience Carrie’s New York like never before and walk in her shoes, quite literally, for the first time. “
Fabulous girlfriends to brunch with are not included in the package, though.
The Bearbnb is perfect for fans of Disney’s hunny loving bear.
Situated in Ashdown Forest in the UK, this sweet experience accommodated up to four friends of Pooh and was available for a limited time for £95 (HKD1,000) per night only via Airbnb.
Hosted by Disney-appointed Winnie the Pooh illustrator Kim Raymond, the custom-built residence (complete with a cupboard full of hunny pots!) would make anyone feel like they’re part of the Pooh and friends gang.
Besides a guided tour through the original Hundred Acre Wood, guests got to play Poohsticks on the Poohsticks Bridge and enjoy locally sourced hunny-inspired meals.
Real Housewives of New York City
This was a chance to be like a Real Housewife without having your feuds and dirty laundry aired on reality TV.
Earlier in the year, Dorinda Medley from the Real Housewives of New York City opened the doors to her Berkshires estate, Blue Stone Manor. She offered two lucky groups of up to four guests, each staying at just $100 per night.
The 11,000-square-foot estate boasts “beautifully restored century-old detailing and exquisitely adorned spaces for entertaining.” The perfect setting for taking those designer gowns out for a spin.
For fans of the New York Mets, this unique stay celebrated Bobby Bonilla Day on July 1.
It marks the day the retired outfielder collects a $1.19 million paycheque for an annual deferred payment, a benefit that started from 2011 and will go on till 2035.
The overnight stay in famed baseball park Citi Field was for just $250. Guests were able to watch both a day and a night game while enjoying limitless ballpark hotdogs and drinks from their own VIP suite.
A little closer to us this time, Korean beauty brand Innisfree opened this Airbnb at a green tea farm on Jeju Island to guests. It makes sense since the green tea from here is used in the brand’s product range.
Two guests were able to enjoy stays at Dolsongyi and Seogwang tea farms for just $10, which were fully refunded at check-in anyway. The holiday came with an outdoor yoga class, a private photo shoot in the lush tea fields and a creative botanical art class, so you have something to show off to your #FitFam and other #WellnessWarriors.
