If you’re looking for the perfect spot for a staycation in Bangkok, W Bangkok is well worth a visit. Set in the heart of Sathorn, this five-star hotel effortlessly blends art, lifestyle, and relaxation into one seamless experience.

W Bangkok stands tall in central Sathorn, a familiar sight to anyone who regularly drives through the area. Behind the signature W fountain lies a striking cream-coloured heritage building over 135 years old. Built in 1889, this beautifully restored mansion, known as The House on Sathorn, has been transformed into a vintage-style restaurant and bar. We’ll explore its highlights a bit later.

This staycation was all about finding a relaxing escape that’s still within Bangkok – and W Bangkok ticks all the boxes. Not only is it easily accessible by car via Sathorn Road, but it’s also just steps away from BTS Chong Nonsi.

The hotel offers a wide range of activities to enhance your stay. Fitness enthusiasts can join classes hosted by The Ripple Club, including aqua boxing and underwater cycling – great for boosting metabolism. For food lovers, there are various dining options with an impressive mix of cuisines to explore.

Don’t miss the unique experiences on offer, such as weekly Sound Healing sessions every Saturday, indulgent vintage-style Afternoon Tea at The House on Sathorn, and festive pool parties that light up every major holiday.

#1: A Sound Escape

We began our staycation with a deeply calming Sound Healing session – a gentle yet powerful experience designed to relax both body and mind through the resonating tones of healing instruments. Guiding the session was certified practitioner Khun Pawita Thongcharoen (Khun Best), who used a combination of three instruments: the Koshi Chime, Crystal Bowl, and Seed Chime.

As we lay flat on the floor, the subtle sounds slowly filled the room, rising and falling in waves to ease us into a state of deep relaxation. One moment we were listening, the next – the hour had passed. Without realising it, we had drifted off. What lingered was a sense of lightness, clarity, and calm.

Sound Healing sessions take place every Saturday at 2 PM at The House on Sathorn. Hotel guests can join free of charge, while outside visitors are also welcome – simply enquire at the lobby for access.

#2: A Taste of Magic

For dinner on our first evening – and breakfast the next morning – we dined at The Kitchen Table, located on the second floor of W Bangkok. This all-day dining restaurant offers an impressive buffet spread that varies between meals.

Saturday Dinner Buffet was a feast for the senses. Each station featured carefully curated selections, starting with artisanal bread and imported cold cuts, paired with nuts, crackers, and fruit. Moving further in, we were met with a bounty of fresh seafood on ice – giant river prawns, slipper lobsters, sushi, and sashimi including salmon, hamachi, and tuna.

The variety didn’t end there. There were vibrant Thai dishes for those craving bold local flavours, Japanese-style grilled meats, as well as Chinese and Indian stations. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert section was equally indulgent and diverse.

Come morning, the buffet shifted to a lighter yet equally delightful spread. A selection of egg dishes could be made to order and served at the table, while an array of international breakfast options lined the counters. We particularly enjoyed the comforting Thai staples – fried rice, rice porridge, noodles, and steamed buns – alongside classic American breakfast fare and a generous dessert selection. It was a bright and satisfying start to the day, enjoyed over a cup of coffee or tea in the soft morning light.

The Kitchen Table is open daily:
 – Breakfast: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
 – Lunch & Dinner: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM

In addition to The Kitchen Table, W Bangkok also houses Paii and Bar Sathorn – both perfect for unwinding in style. Paii offers a refined dining experience with a focus on modern Thai seafood, set within the elegant heritage surrounds of The House on Sathorn. You can find our full review of Paii at the link below. #3: A Touch of Calm

We wrapped up our staycation with a one-hour oil massage at AWAY Spa – a serene experience that brought body and mind into perfect harmony. Before the session began, a therapist consulted us on our preferences, including areas to avoid and pressure levels. We then selected a massage oil and room lighting to suit our mood. This time, we went with the refreshing yet soothing Lime Lavender oil and calming purple lighting to fully relax.

The experience was exceptional. The therapist checked in regularly to ensure the pressure was just right, adjusting techniques to suit our needs. The hour flew by in what felt like minutes. The massage oil absorbed beautifully into the skin, leaving no stickiness – just lasting hydration and a gentle, lingering scent throughout the day.

AWAY Spa is located on the 6th floor, just opposite the pool and fitness centre. It’s open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM.

It’s no exaggeration to say that W Bangkok offers something new every day. This city-centre hotel blends comfort, convenience, and lifestyle effortlessly – from spacious rooms with full amenities to easy access by car or public transport. With such a wide range of activities and experiences on offer, it’s an ideal choice for a Bangkok staycation. Whether you’re looking to unwind, recharge, or simply escape the routine, W Bangkok gives you the perfect space to refresh your spirit and begin anew.
