“…Boucheron, the storied French high jewellery maison, unveils its latest capsule collection: the Quatre Sand Cuff. This striking creation reimagines the maison’s iconic Quatre design through the pioneering use of three-dimensional sand printing technology. Under the visionary direction of Claire Choisne, Creative Director of Boucheron, the cuff marries black sand with yellow gold to form both bangles and cuffs that embody the seamless union of innovation and style…”
Since its founding in 1858, Boucheron has remained true to its spirit of bold experimentation. Following in the footsteps of founder Frédéric Boucheron, Claire Choisne continues to embrace unconventional materials that challenge traditional notions of what defines “precious”. Since 2020, the maison has introduced capsule collections that consistently push boundaries: from denim paired with diamonds (2020), holographic coatings (2021), Cofalit® (2022), aluminium (2023), and even five-dimensional memory glass (2024). In 2025, this journey of exploration culminates in the Quatre Sand Cuff, crafted from black sand.

The use of sand itself is not entirely new to the maison. It was previously explored in the Bleu de Jodhpur collection (2015) and Or Bleu (2024), inspired by the volcanic shores of Iceland. Yet with the Quatre Sand Cuff, Boucheron has elevated the challenge: transforming a natural element as granular and fleeting as sand into the sharp, architectural geometry that defines the Quatre signature.

Drawing on expertise from the aerospace and automotive industries, Boucheron employs 3D Sand Printing, a technique that sprays polymer binder layer by layer, each less than a millimetre thick, onto sand, much like the delicate layering of a mille-feuille pastry. The grains are bound together into a solid yet textured surface, preserving the natural tactile quality of sand while achieving remarkable structural strength. This process represents a sublime meeting of cutting-edge engineering and the limitless artistry of high jewellery.
The new collection comprises seven pieces designed to be worn singly or stacked for a personalised expression of style. The highlight is the oversized cuff in black sand and yellow gold, its surface enhanced by the maison’s signature Clou de Paris motif. Smaller versions echo this design, while four additional brushed-gold bangles complete the collection, offering versatility and refinement in equal measure.

Every stage of creation speaks to Boucheron’s mastery, from digital modelling and the precision of sand printing, to the delicate assembly with gold, meticulous polishing, satin-brushing, and the intricate clasp mechanisms. The result is jewellery that is at once powerful, contemporary, and faithful to the timeless spirit of Boucheron Quatre.
