“…The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra warmly invites all music lovers to experience an extraordinary evening of symphonic power at the “Musical Friendship” concert, taking place on Thursday, 4 September 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre…”

This special performance is held in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, and with the support of B.Grimm.

The concert celebrates the deep bonds of musical friendship, uniting composers, artists, and audiences alike under the baton of Maestro Douglas Bostock, the acclaimed British conductor renowned for his profound interpretations of Romantic repertoire. His return to the RBSO signifies the continuation of a long-standing and meaningful artistic relationship.

The evening begins with Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, one of the most monumental and technically demanding concertos in the history of classical music. Performing as soloist is Oliver Schnyder, the distinguished Swiss pianist and Grand Prize winner of the Pembaur Competition, whose debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. earned international acclaim. With his flawless technique and deeply expressive artistry, Schnyder has become one of the leading pianists of his generation.

In the second half, audiences will be transported by Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 in D major, a work deeply influenced by Brahms yet radiant with Bohemian vitality and lyricism. This symphony marked Dvořák’s rise to international recognition as one of the great masters of the Romantic era.
The “Musical Friendship” concert is not only a performance of timeless masterpieces but also a celebration of enduring bonds, between the RBSO and Maestro Bostock, and between composers, musicians, and audiences across borders, woven together through the universal language of music.
