“…In a world driven by rapid replication, works shaped by the human hand grow ever more valuable, not merely as objects, but as traces of time, patience, and lived experience accumulated over years. MADE IN THAI-HANDS, the latest exhibition by PLAY ART HOUSE at The Gallery, Level 3 of Rosewood Bangkok, brings these values into focus through Thai craft-based art that continues to evolve alongside the contemporary world….”

Curated by independent artist and curator Seada Samdao, the exhibition invites viewers on a journey across the landscape of Thai craftsmanship, from its roots and belief systems to its reinterpretation in a modern context. Featuring works by ten Thai artists, each piece stands as a testament to human labour, the enduring core that has long sustained Thai art and craft traditions.

Rather than treating craftsmanship as something static, MADE IN THAI-HANDS approaches it as a living process. The exhibition reveals the value of making through materials, techniques, and creative rhythms that demand precision, patience, and deep understanding. Each work reads like a record of working hands—hands that pass knowledge from generation to generation, and hands that dare to experiment, carrying inherited narratives forward.

The participating artists, including Chusak Srikwan, Donruedi Bunkaeo, Jakchai Pedparnkun, Jiranan Mobandit, Kamon Indigo, Lazuli, Sasiwimol Chonlabut, Somruthai Wongyai, Thaworn Kobnoy, and Yerrinda Kaewsuw, collectively form a dialogue between past and future. Some works remain closely anchored to traditional forms, while others boldly reinterpret Thai craftsmanship through a contemporary visual language. What unites them all is a shared reverence for the “hand” and for human labour as the origin of every act of creation.

Set within the refined atmosphere of Rosewood Bangkok, the exhibition further reinforces a sense of slowing down. Visitors are gently encouraged to spend time with each work, to observe at ease, and to engage with a quieter kind of beauty, one that does not demand attention, but reveals itself gradually, in stillness.
