FENDI unveils “Rock the Craft,” a project that merges the worlds of art and craftsmanship to reinterpret artistic expression from new perspectives through collaboration between artists and artisans.
The “Rock the Craft” exhibition is presented as a live working display, featuring artist Edoardo Piermattei alongside FENDI’s leather and fur artisans in the atelier on the third floor of Palazzo FENDI Milano. The exhibition reflects the maison’s commitment to expanding creative boundaries while honoring traditional craftsmanship and sustainable practices.
The inspiration for the project stems from Piermattei’s specially created artworks, influenced by three-dimensional art on the vaulted ceilings of each boutique floor. Using pigmented cement and the sac à poche technique, he transforms rigid materials into soft, flowing lines.
This sense of softness is further translated into custom Peekaboo canvas bags, featured in the latest Peekaboo Artists series. These pieces showcase FENDI’s mastery of craftsmanship and its dedication to material and resource circularity for sustainability.
Additionally, leftover materials from previous collections are repurposed to create limited-edition custom Peekaboo bags, inspired by Piermattei’s unique artworks, which will be available for purchase.
