“…‘Only Friends’ stands as one of GMMTV’s most talked-about series, praised for its uncompromising drama and emotionally charged performances that resonated widely with audiences. As the story continues with ‘Only Friends: Dream On’, the sequel introduces a refreshed leading cast while amplifying the intensity to an even more provocative level…”

For this chapter, #legend_th sat down with the two leading actors of the new season, Pirapat “Earth” Watthanasetsiri and Sahaphap “Mix” Wongratch, a pairing whose long-standing collaboration now converges once again in what is arguably one of the most challenging projects of their careers. These new roles do not merely test their acting skills, but also lead them back to the emotional core of storytelling, exploring relationships, vulnerability, and growth as performers.

#legend_th: How challenging are your respective roles in ‘Only Friends: Dream On’?

Mix: I play Dean. He’s a very straightforward character, quite intense and blunt. The real challenge was figuring out how to portray him in a way that still makes the audience care about him. He’s not gentle at all; he has a very hard edge, and some parts of him are extremely aggressive.

Earth: I play Jack. He’s a quiet character who always thinks before he speaks. Almost everything is communicated through his eyes. The challenge for me was how to make the audience believe that beneath that stillness, there’s a lot going on, thoughts, emotions, depth.

#legend_th: Compared to the first season, how does the story differ this time?

Earth: “The image people remember from season one is that it was very raw and intense. But this season centres on theatre actors, so the drama leans more heavily into relationships and emotional conflict.”

Mix: “Exactly. The drama becomes much more layered. We weave elements of theatre into the narrative, so it’s no longer just about shock value, it’s about emotional complexity, which makes the series even more compelling.”

#legend_th: How does this series reflect your growth as actors?

Earth: “For me, it genuinely made me feel like I became an actor all over again. When you’ve done many series, you sometimes forget the finer details, eye contact, silence, subtlety. This project took me back to basics. It allowed me to perform in a more grounded, textured, and well-rounded way.”

Mix: “My experience was a bit different. I’ve done fewer series, and this project has six main characters. I had to build relationships with actors I hadn’t worked closely with before. The challenge was starting those emotional connections and communicating feelings authentically, which pushed me quite hard.”
