YaccoMaricard, founded in 1977, has consistently aimed to elevate the value of fashion through various surface transformation techniques. Inspired by Japan's art and cultural heritage, the brand has steadfastly adhered to this philosophy, culminating in their latest collection 'KACHO-FUGETSU,' meaning 'flowers, birds, wind, moon.' This collection was inspired by the vibrant seasonal changes in nature and captures the concept of natural beauty in the land of the rising sun, incorporating it into each look. Throughout each month, these inspirations are translated into elegantly crafted garments using intricate craftsmanship techniques, infused with the essence of Japanese culture. Moreover, the collection represents a timeless yet contemporary style, enhanced by comfortable and breathable materials, offering a graceful yet sporty appearance.
Shirasagi and Fusumae
The seasonal transformation begins with 'Shirasagi,' a stunning white ensemble inspired by Shirasagi Castle. It features intricate appliqué work of white herons and blooming flowers in black, showcasing masterful artistry and the resilience of the Utsunomiya sunland. The fabric's delicate transparency, paired with embossed scale-like techniques, creates a mesmerising fluidity. Next is a look showcasing Grid Boutis techniques, inspired by Fusuma sliding door paintings, a hallmark of Japanese interior design, resulting in endlessly captivating embellishments. Following this is 'Ichimatsu,' which features a timeless checkerboard pattern symbolising perpetual growth and development according to Japanese beliefs.
Ichimatsu and Kouyo
As October arrives and the leaves change colour, Japan's landscape becomes enchantingly captivating during the 'Kouyo' season, a time when the art of blending vibrant colours truly shines. This is vividly portrayed through patchwork techniques that seamlessly stitch together fabrics adorned with maple leaf patterns, infusing garments with energy, freshness, and joy. As November brings the snowy season, the 'Kamuri Yuki' look draws inspiration from snowdrifts sculpted by the wind, forming semi-circular domes of pure white. The lively colours on the garments sparkle romantically, reminiscent of lights on a snowy evening, capturing a warm and poetic ambience. The collection culminates with 'Hinode,' symbolising the dawn of a new day after the moon has gracefully set. This final look marks a fresh beginning, eagerly welcoming the sun's arrival and evoking a sense of renewal and optimism.
