When discussing prominent figures in mid-century design, few names resonate as strongly as Le Corbusier’s. His mastery in style, meticulous composition, and distinctive design language have ensured that his work continues to captivate audiences, even nearly six decades after his passing.
By fortunate coincidence, #Legend_th had the opportunity to visit Zurich, Switzerland, the home of the Pavillon Le Corbusier, a well-known museum established in 1967 that pays homage to the legendary architect in every dimension. Currently, it is hosting a special exhibition titled Lucien Hervé: Built Light, which narrates the extraordinary relationship between Le Corbusier and the architectural photographer Lucien Hervé.
The defining characteristic that sets this exhibition apart is not just the iconic photographs but also the presentation style that intertwines minimalism and humanism. Hervé’s photographic work captures the unique design ethos of Le Corbusier through a profound interplay of light, shadow, and space, creating a deeply immersive experience for audiences.
However, this exhibition is not solely a showcase of Lucien Hervé’s iconic photographs of Le Corbusier’s works, it also thoughtfully juxtaposes these images with masterpieces from various periods and styles. This rich tapestry is further enriched by meaningful quotes from Le Corbusier and significant documents that allow attendees to appreciate the robust bond between these two legendary figures more deeply.
The exhibition is organised into several sections, each showcasing intriguing design styles from various eras. This carefully curated display invites visitors to embark on a journey through the fascinating realms of architecture. Beginning with rare photographs of Le Corbusier, the exhibition then unfolds to reveal the remarkable features of modern architecture, highlighting Lucien Hervé’s unique talent for transforming architectural elements into stunning works of art, making it a truly must-see experience for anyone passionate about design and its impact on the world.
