“...It is well-known in the fashion world that the figurehead of a brand, the Creative Director, holds immense importance in shaping the design direction. A prime example of this is none other than the legendary Italian brand Gucci. When Alessandro Michele, who had been at the helm for years, passed on the reins to Sabato de Sarno, the collections that followed marked a return to refined, sleek elegance. In the second and third quarters of 2024, this revolving door of Creative Directors has seen notable shifts. Today, #Legend_th will guide you through some of the most captivating changes in the industry…”

Alessandro Michele, a modern-day fashion legend, cannot be overlooked. Having left an indelible mark at Gucci for over eight years, Michele’s departure and the handover to Sabato de Sarno were widely discussed. De Sarno’s designs have, in many ways, taken Gucci back to the golden era of Tom Ford, but with a contemporary twist and elevated fashion sensibility. Meanwhile, Michele’s new creative direction for Valentino has generated much anticipation. This era marks a new chapter for the brand, one that fashion enthusiasts will undoubtedly follow closely.

June 2024: Peter Copping at Lanvin

Lanvin, a Parisian luxury house, may have seen its influence wane slightly in recent years, but the appointment of British designer Peter Copping, formerly of haute couture icon Oscar de la Renta, as Creative Director has sent ripples through the fashion community. This shift has sparked speculation that Lanvin could experience a renaissance, reminiscent of its golden days under Alber Elbaz. Copping’s arrival promises to infuse the brand with a fresh perspective and a return to its once-revered status in the luxury sector.

For those who followed Haider Ackermann’s work at Berluti during the 2017–2018 period, his brilliance as a designer is well recognised. Despite his brief tenure there, Ackermann’s visionary approach remains celebrated today. Following Peter Hawkings' recent departure as Creative Director at Tom Ford in early September, Ackermann's appointment seems nothing short of fitting. Even Tom Ford himself has publicly praised Ackermann’s talent and foresight. The fashion world now waits in eager anticipation to see what Ackermann will bring to the Tom Ford legacy.
