"...For those keeping a keen eye on the evolution of Bangkok’s lifestyle destinations, the name ‘Songwat Road’ will undoubtedly ring a bell. With its rich old-town charm, creative boutique stores lining the streets, and a captivatingly laid-back atmosphere, Songwat Road has swiftly emerged as a unique cultural haven nestled in the heart of Bangkok. Filled with historic allure and distinct personality, it’s a community where past meets present in the most imaginative ways, cementing its place as a new centre of creativity in the city’s bustling core..."
In an exciting move to amplify this allure, the Songwat community has unveiled an engaging new project—Songwat Week 2024. Launched on November 7, this event invites all to experience the rich tapestry of this neighbourhood under the thematic umbrella of Songwat Cross - A Holistic Experience. The concept celebrates Songwat’s cultural heritage by weaving it seamlessly with modern creative expressions, offering visitors a uniquely immersive glimpse into both tradition and innovation.
This year’s event brings together an array of boutique vendors in a shared commitment to offer a truly memorable experience to all who visit. From culinary delights to artisanal workshops, Songwat Week promises a sensory adventure at every corner. Highlights include Potong, renowned for its bold Thai flavours, Chata Specialty Coffee with its artisanal drinks, and Agar Raga, offering traditional Thai sweets that delight the palate.
The festivities extend beyond food and drinks, with a lineup of interactive workshops conducted by local artisans and creative experts. Each workshop is designed to captivate visitors’ interests, such as Han Koo’s DIY shirt-making station, Sit in Soi’s Flowers x Herbs, where attendees can craft floral arrangements enhanced by aromatic herbs, and a DIY salad roll session by Agar Raga featuring jelly wraps and a Sriracha mayo dressing. For wellness enthusiasts, Yunomori Onsen & Spa presents holistic spa treatments, while Local Boys Coffee & Co. offers a Cold Brew Masterclass, diving deep into the art of brewing chilled coffee.
One of the central highlights of this year’s event is the launch of the second edition of the Songwat Guide Book. This prestigious occasion was inaugurated by Bangkok Governor, Associate Professor Chatchart Sittiphan, who delivered opening remarks at Songviet and outside the URBY Hotel, surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd of distinguished guests and media representatives.
Yet the charm of Songwat Week doesn’t end with food, drinks, and workshops. A special X MARK CARD promotion lets visitors collect stamps with purchases over 100 THB at participating stores, providing the opportunity to win prizes valued at over 30,000 THB. The event’s exclusive Songwat Cross Walk tour, led by Mr. Kiatwat Srichanwanaphen, President of Made In Song Wat, offers a deeper exploration of Songwat’s historic gems. This guided experience takes visitors to key sites while sharing fascinating stories from Songwat’s past, allowing for a fuller appreciation of the street’s history.
Another standout element of the week is a series of engaging discussions with industry personalities, including Chef Pamfrom Potong, Bank from Go Long Pao, and the artistic minds from Play Art House. These talks are followed by a lively array of performances by bands such as Pukchee, Keepboys, and Goofy Glasses, with the stage graced by traditional Chinese opera to add a cultural richness to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
For those interested in experiencing the essence of Bangkok’s old-town charm, Songwat Week 2024 is an unmissable occasion. Join us from November 7-10, 2024, along Songwat Road, from 1 PM to 8 PM daily.
