Omega unveiled the Precision campaign highlights the artistry of crafting

Apr 04, 2024

Omega, one of the most renowned names in the watch industry, has been shaping the horology landscape for over 176 years with a pioneering spirit. This has cemented Omega as a brand synonymous with constant innovation, offering a myriad of iconic models beloved by people worldwide. “Precision” is the latest campaign from the brand, aimed at reaffirming this legacy of excellence. Through three key narratives, Omega will underscore this perfection once again

Precision and accuracy

Omega’s design philosophy centers on perpetual enhancement and the pursuit of perfection. At the heart of this ethos lies the Co-Axial escapement system, a groundbreaking innovation introduced in 1999 through the visionary work of George Daniels. This system distinguishes itself with its minimized contact surfaces, reducing friction and the need for extensive lubrication. Complementing this innovation is the Silicon Si14 balance spring, a vital component of Omega’s mechanism since 2008. Remarkably thin and resilient, this spring is impervious to shocks and magnetic fields, ensuring consistent performance and reliability. Omega’s commitment to excellence extends to its Master Chronometer certification, which guarantees exceptional performance across various models. These timepieces boast high resistance to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss and unparalleled accuracy, validated through rigorous testing by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) over a span of more than 10 days.

Additionally, the latest advancement developed by the brand over its five decades is precision testing conducted under the name of “Laboratoire de Précision.” This testing guarantees accuracy comparable to COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse Des Chronomètres). The “Laboratoire de Précision” is officially accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) and certified through laboratory testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards, including chronometer testing according to ISO 3159 standards and rigorous accuracy testing lasting over 15 days. This significant move brings Omega to the forefront of innovation in the horology industry.

Materials and textures

It’s noticeable that Omega watch cases feature a variety of materials and textures, enhancing the brand’s watch designs with vibrant colours and enduring durability. These various alloys contribute to the distinctiveness and resilience of Omega’s timepiece designs, highlighting the wearer’s individuality wonderfully.

Sedna Gold, a red gold alloy introduced by the brand in 2012, stands out for its resistance to fading of colour over time. Canopus Gold, an 18K white gold alloy utilised since 2015, embodies luxury in every detail and resists fading, the ideal material for high-end watch cases. Moonshine Gold, an innovative 18K yellow gold alloy introduced in 2019, inspired by the shining moonlight, offers a distinctive paler hue than traditional 18K yellow gold.

An exceptional alloy cannot be else but Bronze Gold, the unique precious that has been developed to offer captivating hues and textures. Crafting from various high-level metals, including 37.5% gold hallmarked as 9K, along with palladium and silver. It provides a distinctive colour spectrum between Moonshine Gold 18K and Sedna Gold 18K, while also possessing corrosion resistance without the risk of verdigris-oxidation.

Components and details

Ultimately, “details” are the epitome of completeness, the final piece that Omega consistently values and meticulously attends to. The sandstone dial of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades is one such testament to this commitment. Sized at 43mm and crafted from yellow gold, it is adorned with a sun-brushed radiating pattern coated with lacquer. Featuring with the Omega logo crafted from 18K white gold with a diamond-polished finish. Additionally, the watch is complemented by a meticulously crafted strap, sized at 34mm, distinguished by alternating polished and brushed links with beautifully rounded edges, creating a captivating contrast in detail for the timepiece.

The watch hands are another intriguing aspect. Omega’s designers aim for each component to have its unique style and distinction. The hour hand of the Seamaster 300 is a valuable creation that seamlessly blends time-reading functionality with unique aesthetic appeal. Noteworthy for its delicate shading, it adds a gentle roundness to the watch face crafted from the Bronze Gold material of the model.

The final touch, complementing the blue sun-brushed dial of the 41mm Constellation, is the polished blue Ceragold material used for the bezel and Roman numerals. Crafted from precious Ceragold, this element exudes unmatched sophistication, seamlessly blending with the watch face. The fusion of steel and Sedna Gold 18K in the Constellation case further elevates its timeless elegance.
