“…The Olympic Games Paris 2024 in France officially concluded on August 11, 2024, at the Stade de France, the national stadium. The event marked the transition to the next host country, the United States. The Olympic Games 2028 will be held in Los Angeles from July 14 to 30, 2028…”

The Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, France, reached its closing ceremony on August 11, 2024. The dominant country in the competition was the United States, which won 40 gold medals, 44 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals. The closing ceremony, "Records," was curated by Thomas Jolly, the Artistic Director.

The concept of the event revolved around a dreamlike journey through time with a science fiction theme. It featured a character from French folklore, the Golden Voyager, who embarks on an exploration of the world. In this narrative, the Golden Voyager travels to a future where the Olympic Games have faded away and discovers the Olympic rings, reestablishing them to introduce the Olympic spirit to a new world. Additionally, Karen Bass, the Mayor of Los Angeles, received the Olympic flag from Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, marking the transition to the next Olympic host city.

One of the most impressive moments during the transition to the next Olympic Games was the dramatic appearance of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, age 62. He returned to perform an extraordinary stunt by rappelling down from the Stade de France and riding a motorcycle out of the stadium. Cruise then boarded a plane to Los Angeles, passing the Olympic flag to Kate Courtney, the renowned mountain biker, at the iconic Hollywood sign at the Los Angeles Memorial Museum.
