“…the moments of sunset are seen as a time for exploring opportunities and living life to the fullest. This idea, from Sabato De Sarno, the Creative Director of Gucci, serves as the inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2025 collection titled “Casual Grandeur.” This collection debuted at Triennale Milano, the renowned art museum, on 20th September 2024 during Milan Fashion Week. Moreover, this collection is a poetic tribute to those fleeting yet perfect moments that define the essence of living…”

Milan Fashion Week 2024 has concluded, showcasing a variety of brands unveiling their Spring/Summer 2025 collections, each with intriguing concepts. Among the most anticipated shows was that of Gucci, the luxury brand founded in 1921 in Florence. This season, Creative Director Sabato De Sarno once again captivated audiences with a collection inspired by the moments of sunset in late August. He remarked, “A precise moment in time. A moment to seize and live to the fullest. It’s the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day. It’s the moment we find ourselves” Sabato De Sarno truly represents a new direction for the brand.

Sabato De Sarno chose Triennale Milano, the renowned art museum, to unveil this collection, emphasising the cultural values of the brand alongside the museum’s commitment to integrating art, design, architecture, and modern perspectives. The museum was transformed into a bright, airy space, using orange and red hues to evoke the colours of a sunset, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the moments that De Sarno aimed to capture. He stated, "A year later, this collection shows an accomplished journey of construction. Moment after moment, I have built my ideas for Gucci. A casual grandeur that takes shape through my obsessions." This passion is reflected in his unique blend of 1960s tailoring, while he continues to explore the brand’s rich heritage.

Tailoring is at the heart of Sabato De Sarno’s collection, perfectly blending modernity and classic elegance. This collection features tailored trousers designed to be worn with sneakers, showcasing a colour palette that includes ‘Gucci Rosso Ancora,’ a new shade of red crafted by De Sarno. Other colours such as grey, white, green, and orange pay homage to the brand’s distinctive beauty. The collection also includes jackets, A-line skirts, and coats, all adorned with the iconic GG monogram, highlighting the craftsmanship of couture tailoring. A key material used throughout is leather, a hallmark of the brand's DNA for many years. A standout piece in this collection is the revamped Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag, now updated for a contemporary look, alongside a collaboration with a Japanese artist celebrating Gucci's 60th anniversary in Japan.

The show for this collection highlights Gucci's heritage, featuring accessories inspired by bamboo, signature handbags, and Horsebit patterns, alongside redesigned headscarves using Gucci Flora. This collection pays tribute to the brand’s timeless elegance with the title “Casual Grandeur,” seamlessly weaving together the past and present, high fashion and everyday wear, while celebrating the perfect moments of sunset, times for seizing opportunities and embracing the essence of life.
