"...In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the illustrious Italian maison, Loro Piana, has unveiled plans for a grand exhibition. This exceptional event is set to take place from 22 March to 5 May 2025 at the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai..."
The exhibition will be hosted within the minimalist yet avant-garde interiors of the MAP, designed by the renowned Parisian architectural firm, Ateliers Jean Nouvel (AJN). For the first time since its opening in 2021, MAP will be dedicating its prestigious space to a special exhibition for a globally acclaimed luxury brand. Curated with meticulous care by the esteemed Judith Clark, the exhibition promises an immersive journey through the rich history and legacy of the Loro Piana family. Visitors will be treated to an extraordinary collection of archival photographs, artistic works, and artefacts that epitomise the maison’s exceptional craftsmanship. The exhibition explores the world of fibres, fabrics, and the intricate artistry that has become synonymous with Loro Piana, presented in a manner that highlights both tangible and intangible elements of the brand's mastery.
China holds a significant place in Loro Piana’s narrative, marking the beginning of its pursuit of excellence through the finest cashmere. Over the decades, the maison has fostered invaluable relationships with farmers and communities in China who have preserved the heritage of cashmere production. This enduring partnership is celebrated through the exhibition, paying homage to the artistry and traditions of these communities. Blending heritage and innovation, this commemorative event reflects on Loro Piana’s achievements over the past century while offering an exclusive opportunity to experience its unique world of luxury, where authenticity meets artisanal excellence.
Situated on the iconic waterfront of Lujiazui, the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) is a modern cultural landmark in Shanghai and a significant platform for international cultural and artistic exchange. Designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning French architect Jean Nouvel, the museum spans an impressive 40,000 square metres. This includes 10,000 square metres of exhibition space and 13 state-of-the-art galleries covering over 5,800 square metres. Since its inception in 2021, MAP has collaborated with some of the world’s leading art institutions and celebrated artists, delivering unparalleled artistic experiences to audiences in Shanghai. The partnership with Loro Piana further cements its role as a hub for cultural and artistic innovation, showcasing its ability to merge contemporary design with timeless heritage.
