Franck Muller unveiled three masterpieces from the Long Island collection

Apr 11, 2024

The timeless beauty of the rectangular case with curved edges in the Long Island model from Franck Muller is complemented by short lugs and curved hour numerals, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of the Art Deco era. First introduced in 2000, this luxurious style has evolved into an iconic design of the house. When this lavish style is combined with cutting-edge horological innovation, the result is the highlight of three models from the Long Island Evolution collection, unveiled at the WPHH event in Geneva, Switzerland. Whether it’s The Long Island Evolution 7 Days Power Reserve, Long Island Evolution Master Jumper, or Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon, each showcases the epitome of sophistication and craftsmanship

The timepiece in this collection is meticulously crafted with a titanium case, coated on the outside with black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and embellished with satin-finished details, imparting a distinctive touch. The inner case, crafted from aluminium, is anodised to achieve a vibrant green hue, adding a striking contrast. Completing the ensemble is a black crocodile leather strap, accentuated with green stitching and a green lining on the underside. The sides of the leather strap are also finished in green, creating a seamless green frame around the watch case.

The Long Island Evolution timepiece not only captures attention with its stunning appearance but also incorporates mechanisms to protect against shocks, ensuring the watch remains secure during daily activities. Additionally, its multi-layered structure seamlessly integrates the sapphire crystal with the dial’s sides, discreetly concealing screws from view.

The Long Island Evolution Master Jumper

An attention-grabbing masterpiece, presenting time in a triple jumping format, demonstrating remarkable complexity by showcasing hours, minutes, and dates across three subdials at the centre. The dial’s open-worked mechanism reveals cutting-edge technological sophistication. While triple jumping time displays are not entirely new in high-end watch design, Franck Muller’s synchronised implementation of hour, minute, and date displays across three jumping subdials sets a new standard. The watch’s movement is powered by the Calibre FM 3100, developed by Franck Muller’s dedication over four years. This power is reserved by a dual barrel system positioned at 6 and 12 o’clock, driving the movement smoothly and reliably.

Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon

Captivating with its oversized tourbillon cage, boasting a diameter of 20mm, coated entirely in sleek black tones that seamlessly complement the titanium case. The piece takes up more than half of the entire movement space and showcases three-armed bridges resembling various movement bridges, collectively supporting all four mainsprings. These components are set up to ensure an impressive power reserve of up to four days, effectively distributing energy reserves among different barrels. Additionally, the hour and minute hands feature luminescent Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. Furthermore, the Giga Tourbillon also integrates a dual tourbillon mechanism, serving as a secondary continuous subdial at the top of the dial. This sophisticated feature establishes Franck Muller as the pioneering brand in developing a multi-axis tourbillon, further solidifying its reputation for crafting intricately designed and sophisticated wristwatches.

Long Island Evolution 7 Days Power Reserve

Another meticulously designed piece that exudes the classic essence of a mechanical wristwatch in a robust and captivating form. The three-handed watch is powered by the hand-wound mechanical movement, FM 1745 calibre, showcasing a meticulously skeletonised design through the sapphire crystal on both the front and back. The subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock displays the seconds, while the large Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, drawn with luminescent material, ensure clear readability even in darkness. With a power reserve of up to seven days, the watch operates precisely at a consistent frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour.

Limited Edition

The Long Island Evolution collection, including all three models, is exclusively available in the Asia-Pacific region. The Long Island Evolution 7 Days Power Reserve model is limited to a total of 300 pieces, the Long Island Evolution Master Jumper is produced in a quantity of 100 pieces, and the Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon is exceptionally rare with only 8 pieces available.
