"...Following its elegant debut this past May in the southern French city of Marseille, the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 collection made a return in Hong Kong. This collection draws inspiration from sports and movement, linking to the long history of the House of CHANEL and blending in the beauty of the sea and urban life. Adding to the occasion was the special appearance of Thai actress and model ' Aokbab, Chutimon' who dazzled on the runway. This show took place at the Hong Kong Design Institute in Tseung Kwan O on 5th November."
Following its graceful success in May in Marseille, in the south of France, the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 collection was presented in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Design Institute in Tseung Kwan O, a venue focused on education and creativity. The brand has maintained a strong relationship with this institution for over three years, aiming to enrich the students' experience and facilitate their access to the fashion ecosystem while promoting exchange and dialogue. The collection itself draws inspiration from the beauty of the sea and urban life, as well as from the world of sport, with the athletic elegance subtly woven into every aspect of the designs.
As soon as guests arrived at the venue for the fashion show, they were immersed in an experience unlike anything they had encountered before. The journey began with the screening of Modern Flirt, a film created by French director Audrey Diwan, a long-time friend of CHANEL. The film featured Hong Kong actress Angela Yuen alongside French actor Benjamin Voisin in the lead roles. It was showcased in front of the ‘Radio CHANEL’ space at the Hong Kong Design Institute.
The experience continued to captivate with the gathering of emerging artists and key figures from Hong Kong’s cultural scene. Guests were also invited to explore the ‘Imagine an Elsewhere’ exhibition, organised by the Institute and supported by CHANEL. This exhibition featured collaborative works by 35 students from the Hong Kong Design Institute, specialising in Architecture, Interior and Product Design, Communication Design, Digital Media, and Fashion and Image Design. The exhibition is open to the public from 7th November to 31st December 2024.
The experience continued with an unforgettable party at Shaw Studios, set against a warm, sunset-like atmosphere. The evening featured breathtaking performances by CHANEL friends and ambassadors, including a duet by Angèle and Sébastien Tellier, as well as a memorable dance performance by Hong Kong dancers and (LA)HORDE, the National Ballet of Marseille, with Nathalie Hsu. Further performances were given by Kalai and Yeti Out. CHANEL ambassadors, including Penélope Cruz, G-Dragon, and Thai actress Aokbab Chutimon, who participated in this fashion show, alongside emerging talents from Thailand such as Baipor Thitiya and Blue Pongtiwat.
Hong Kong, a metropolis that is open to Asia and the world, boasts a rich cultural heritage across film, music, dance, art, and design, with a dynamic and ever-evolving creative scene. The programme of events surrounding the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 show thus stands as a celebration of the longstanding and strong relationship between the luxury brand and Hong Kong.
