The night was filled with award presentations, spectacular performances, and significant moments that reflected the power of women in music..." 

Jennie Receives the Global Force Award:  A boundless global influence

One of the evening’s standout moments was Jennie from BLACKPINK being honoured with the Global Force Award. This prestigious accolade recognises artists who have made a worldwide impact and transcended musical boundaries. While accepting her award, Jennie delivered an inspiring speech, saying, “I’m inspired by all the women in this room, and around the globe who continue to break barriers and make their mark on the world stage”

Beyond being a K-pop icon, Jennie has established herself as a fashion trendsetter, influencing both the music and fashion industries globally. She is one of the most internationally recognised Korean artists, collaborating with top global musicians and representing major luxury brands. With such an impressive global presence, her recognition with this award was more than well deserved.

Aespa wins Group of the Year & delivers a closing performance

Another electrifying moment of the night came when Aespa, the South Korean girl group, was awarded Group of the Year. This award highlighted their phenomenal success on a global scale, breaking music chart records and dominating social media trends.

The group took the stage to accept their award amid roaring cheers from fans. But they weren’t just there to receive an accolade, they also delivered a spectacular closing performance with their hit song "Whiplash". Dressed in striking white outfits, the four members captivated the entire venue. The hall was filled with the energy of MYs (Aespa’s fandom), who sang along throughout the performance. This showstopping moment was yet another testament to why Aespa represents the future of music.

Doechii takes home the Woman of the Year Award

A key highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Woman of the Year award, which went to Doechii. A powerhouse artist who previously won Billboard’s Rising Star Award two years ago, Doechii spoke passionately about her journey, filled with perseverance and courage. She also emphasised the ongoing gender inequality in the music industry, expressing her hope that Billboard Women in Music will continue to push for meaningful change.

Erykah Badu honoured with the Icon Award & a mesmerising performance

Erykah Badu received the prestigious Icon Award, recognising her incredible contributions and influence in R&B and Neo-Soul. Her stage presence was magnetic, not only did she accept the award, but she also gave a stunning performance, leaving the audience in awe of her timeless artistry. The award was presented to her by Summer Walker, an artist who has drawn inspiration from Badu. Expressing her gratitude, Badu spoke about the honour of being part of such an event and continuing to uplift women in the music industry.

Another distinguished honouree was ANNA, who was awarded the Billboard Italy Woman of the Year for her significant influence on the Italian music industry. Similarly, Charlotte Cardin was named Billboard Canada Woman of the Year, celebrating her artistic achievements and substantial influence on the Canadian music industry. The event also recognised GloRilla with the Powerhouse Award, celebrating her dominance in hip-hop. Her raw energy. The Songwriter of the Year award was bestowed upon Gracie Abrams, a singer-songwriter adored by fans globally. Breaking boundaries and redefining norms, Megan Moroney was honoured with the Rulebreaker Award. While, Meghan Trainor, known for her infectious pop anthems, was recognised with the Hitmaker Award. Rising stars were also celebrated at the event. Muni Long received the Rising Star Award, a testament to her rapid ascent and undeniable impact in the music industry. Meanwhile, Tina Knowles was honoured with the Mother of the Year award, acknowledging her inspiring role as a matriarch and mentor in the music world. Finally, Tyla received the Impact Award, recognising her significant contributions to the global music industry. 

Beyond the awards, the Billboard Women in Music 2025 event was filled with electrifying performances from an array of talented female artists. Muni Long captivated the audience with a moving rendition of "Superpowers," her emotive vocals resonating deeply with those in attendance. Ángela Aguilar delivered a powerful performance of "Cielito Lindo," showcasing her cultural heritage and immense pride in her roots. Meanwhile, Tyla set the stage ablaze with her dynamic and high-energy performance, further cementing her status as an influential force in the music industry.

This event was not only a celebration of the achievements of women in music but also a platform to highlight the diversity and strength of female artists worldwide. Billboard Women in Music 2025 reaffirmed the undeniable power of women's voices and their ongoing journey to innovate, inspire, and reshape the music industry with unwavering confidence and grace.
