Soon after making history as the first nation in Asia to legalise gay marriage, Taiwan continues to roll out groundbreaking moments for LGBTQ acceptance. “Spectrosynthesis – Asian LGBTQ Issues and Art Now” is being held by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MOCA) with the support of Sunpride Foundation, and will be the first ever LGBT museum show in Asia. The exhibition highlights a range of themes that exist within the queer community such as identity, equality, social oppression, lust, as well as life and death.

At a time of great progress but also great division, Taiwanese curator Sean Hu integrates modern and contemporary artists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Singapore, and also ethnic Chinese artists based in the United States and Canada, uniting them in dynamic conversation, beauty and art.

View “Spectrosynthesis” at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei from 9 September to 5 November 2017.
