After three editions of Watches&Wonders, the 12 exhibiting Swiss watchmaking houses have decided to run the annual watch fair in Hong Kong every other year, turning it into a biennial affair.
First hosted in the city in 2013 and organized by the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) Exhibitors Committee, Watches&Wonders was the very first exhibition of fine watches in Asia for end clients. The fair, dominated by Richemont brands such as A. Lange & Söhne, Cartier, IWC, Baume & Mercier and Van Cleef & Arpels, soon became a landmark event in the world of haute horlogerie. The latest edition was held in September last year, welcoming more than 20,000 visitors over its four-day run.
As sales in China continue to slow down, Watches&Wonders will consider new developments into other regions in their time away from Hong Kong.
“Building on this success in Asia, the organisers of Watches&Wonders will examine possibilities for duplicating the concept in other world regions, alternating with Hong Kong,” the organisers said in a statement.
The fourth edition of Watches&Wonders will return to the city in 2017, from September 27 to the 30, and is slated to take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
