All You Need to Know About the Tudor Black Bay Releases at Baselworld

Tudor Heritage Black Bay in steel and gold

Last year, Tudor released the Heritage Black Bay 36 to wide acclaim, and this year, comes back to Baselworld with the same watch we love, only bigger.

The Black Bay 41, with a 41mm case, is Tudor’s response to high demands for a larger version of the Black Bay 36.

The timepiece takes inspiration from Tudor diving watches produced in the 1950’s and 1960’s and maintains the overall distinctive shape that the brand is recognised for.

The dressier Black Bay 41 is deliberately pared down so that it is lighter, more understated and slips easily under a shirt cuff. Like the Black Bay 36 last year, the watch also comes with three strap options, including a brown leather strap, a steel bracelet, as well as a camouflage textile strap.

An all steel version of the Heritage Black Bay diver watch is also introduced this year with a stainless steel bezel, which gives it a distinct tool watch feel. A two-tone steel and gold version is also offered, in which the winding crown and rotating bezel are made out of yellow gold, done in the vintage “gold-fill” technique. Both the steel and two-tone versions house the in-house automatic calibre MT5612, which is also COSC-certified.

Interestingly, Tudor also revealed a new Black Bay Chronograph with a new column-wheel chronograph calibre MT5813, as a result of a collaboration with Breitling. The new movement is based on the Breitling B01 chronograph movement, but modified to feature an oscillating weight, regulating system, silicon balance spring and finishes by Tudor.

The Tudor Black Bay Chronograph maintains the distinctive style of the iconic range by keeping its matte black dial and pushers, similar in design to the first ones used in the first generation of Tudor chronographs. A denim style, jacquard woven watch strap is offered exclusively for the Chrono, and is woven by a 150-year-old family mill in Italy.
