Hong Kong Arts Month turns the city into a vibrant artistic hub

Every March, Hong Kong becomes Asia’s art hub with local and overseas artists and exhibitions showcasing their best work to the city. These are this year’s best events:

Asia Contemporary Art Show: Spring Edition

Featuring over 80 regional and international exhibitions (this year’s participating countries include Peru and Lithuania), the 12th edition of the Asia Contemporary Art Show will be the first fair to kick off Hong Kong Arts Month. Emerging and well-established artists will showcase different works, from photography and paintings to sculptures and limited-edition pieces.

The Asia Contemporary Art Show runs from March 24 to March 26 

Louis Vuitton The Objets Nomades Exhibition

First launched in 2012, the limited-edition Objets Nomades collection is an homage to design, art, and the heritage of the iconic French fashion house. The pieces are the collaborative result of LV’s creative artisans and famous designers and are inspired by the idea of travel. At the Hong Kong exhibition, new Objet Nomade by renowned architect Andre Fu, who also designed the scenography for the event, will be unveiled.

Art Central

Art Central is back for its fourth edition with 102 international galleries to showcase and foster cultural inclusion and promote both the local art scene and its position in the artistic landscape. Every year, the scenic harbour front becomes a vibrant artistic hub with thousands of visitors from all over the world. The annual event also features interactive pieces and installations.

Art Gallery Night and Art Brunch

The events bring together Hong Kong's most prominent galleries to celebrate arts around the city

To celebrate Arts Month and Hong Kong’s vibrant art scene, the city’s Art Gallery Association is organising two annual events in anticipation of Art Basel. Participating galleries will host a fun night of art and performances as well as a brunch. 

Art Gallery Night will take place on March 26 and Art Brunch on March 30

Art Basel

As one of the biggest art fairs in the world, Art Basel is one of the most anticipated events of the year. This year’s edition, with more than 240 galleries from 30 countries, continues its commitment to promote and celebrate Asian art and its diversity, with the majority of works and participants being from the Asia-Pacific region.

Art Basel runs from March 29 to March 31

HK Walls Street Art Festival

HK Walls is bringing back the street art festival for the its 5th edition expanding into Sai Ying Pun and Central with a diverse cadre of street artists leaving a mark on the city. Here’s a map with all the artworks around the Island.

“A beast, a god, and a line” exhibition at Parasite

The travelling exhibition explores the connections and differences across Asia Pacific going back to several historical eras, from the early Austronesian period to European colonialism. The stories told in the extensive exhibition explore waves of migration across the region using multiple languages and cultural symbols and with different approaches to the contemporary world.
