Bally AW19: Journey to Switzerland

Bally started its brand journey by producing shoes made entirely by hand, then diversified into clothing, bags and other leather goods, and accessories for men and women. On July 11, the luxury brand held its autumn/winter 2019 collection preview, Journey to Switzerland, at its newly redesigned store in Pacific Place.

Inspired by acclaimed Norwegian photographer Jarle Hagen, the collection celebrates Swiss heritage and the mountain lifestyle. Looking through the collection, you can truly see the vision laid out. For example, a vintage 1930s expedition map appears on silk jacquard and ink-printed leather, while some ready-to-wear pieces and accessories feature motifs of mountain peaks.

It’s truly impressive how Bally is able to create a new collection that’s so different each time. For autumn/winter 2018, the brand’s approach was based on a short film where the main characters relived their memories, but moved forward to new adventures. This collection focuses on the modern pioneer, with relaxed and laid-back ensembles alongside sneakers and backpacks. In addition, the use of cute embroidered graphics and bright colours brings out the youthfulness and playfulness of the collection.

One design that has a particularly creative vision is a mountain boot design that features a white zigzag strip surrounding the welt, echoing the look of a snow-capped mountain range. Not every brand adapts to change with ease, but Bally has successfully taken the leap in giving its classics a modern twist.Photo: Bally
