Louis Vuitton Takes Rio With Latest Cruise Collection

Inspired by the Brazilian passion of an environmental utopia, Louis Vuitton touched down at the futuristic Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum to showcase the 2017 Cruise collection. Against the greyish blue backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, models strutted down the winding, glossy red pathway in Nicolas Ghesquiére’s designs. The designer is said to have been fascinated by the sensorial explosion of the duality between nature and urbanism in Brazil.

Paying homage to two iconic Brazilian artists, Ghesquiére’s collection is interwoven with inspiration taken from Oiticica’s “clothes of light” and Martins’ vibrant floral patterns. Silhouette of slashed trousers billowing in the wind can be seen as one of the highlights of the collection, together with luxuriously embroidered skirts wrapped in fashionable haste that can only be done at the hands of an expert stylist, creating a juxtaposition between the carefreeness of the dresses against the architecturally powerful background.
