Saturday Feburary 13 was all about Lionel Richie when the legendary crooner and our current cover star was named Person of the Year at the MusicCares annual benefit gala dinner and concert.

Generations of artists, from Rihanna and Demi Lovato to Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder, all reinterpreted decades of his best hits in a variety of styles including pop, rock, folk, funk and gospel.

The event, scheduled two days before the 2016 Grammys Awards, was held at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. Proceeds from the event went to MusicCares, which supports musicians in times of medical, financial and personal needs.

Richie has a massive career, first as the lead singer of the Commodores, and later as a solo artist, delivering hits like “Hello”, “Endless Love” and “Say You, Say Me” that sold over 100 million records and won him several Grammys and an Oscar.
